Well, the decision has been made. Here is some additional information: Sale 1070
Star-studded highlights include a 1987 Nissan 300 ZX Turbo from the highly acclaimed actor Paul Newman and a 1963 Bentley S3 Continental from the estate of the recently deceased entertainer, Dudley Moore. The proceeds from the Bentley will benefit two charities—Music for all Seasons and the Dudley Moore Research Fund for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
UPDATE!! All Prowler owners should be receiving a formal letter from DaimlerChrysler, notifying them of the upcoming Christie's auction of the Last Prowler This message has been edited by CJ on 04-23-2002 at 01:09 PM |

I wish they had decided on a raffle instead so more people could participate. It will be interesting to see who bids and where it ends up. Darn - I will be "stuck" in the infield of Churchill Donws then - and having a great time! ------------------ Driving my Dream This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 04-23-2002 at 08:47 AM |

Well that's disappointing that they didn't go with the raffle so everyone could have had a chance at owning an incredible car. Plus I think they could have rasied a lot more money for the charity with a raffle as opposed to an aution. IMO At least I know it will be in good hands with Mike and Judy. Sassy, I think your right about the price. They are saying on their site that they expect between 40k to 60k. I was thinking somewhere between 100k to 120k. It's New York. Lot's of people with money. Voodoo |

If we are guessing the final purchase price including trailer I will say $77,250.00. ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Well, since the first Prowler sold at Auburn quite a while ago for over $125k ... this last car, with trailer should fetch a decent figure as well. However, times have changed and the interest in the car has changed. Somewhere between $90 and whatever Mike & Judy are willing to spend is my guess ... Also, I disagree ... limited national interest on this car with so many new models coming from Detrpit in the next couple of years ... Auction will raise more than a raffle, IMO. |

What a great color for the last kat to be !! I love it Mike - if you can save this baby, you will have two kats with consecutive VIN numbers (P.S. - I heard AC tell someone that he plans to take your kats out for midnight drives once he gets the Krehel Prowler Museum Security job!) ------------------ |

very disappointed here. it would have been nice to at least have a chance of owning this particular Prowler. at least the proceeds are supposed to go to charity. hope it gets a good home. ------------------ This message has been edited by Spyder on 04-23-2002 at 11:43 AM |

What a Shame!! Just like most of you I wished that I could have bought a ticket or 100 to be in a drawing. If the bid gets over the price of a few tickets Im out All we can hope for is that it ends up in the hands of a cat lover not sitting in a building for the rest of its life. It's right down the street from where I work so if anybody wants to send me the money I will gladly bid... Of course I will be taking it home My guess is that it will go for at least $220,000. We should have a POA contest for the closest guess and the winner gets a new trailer or something... Maybe we can all pull our money together and then donate it to the Chrysler Museum from the POA... Or just go visit it at Mike's house in Texas WildBill |

Just curious, since the proceeds go to charity, does that mean the car is a write off? |

Why should DC be any different than their dealers that "auctioned" off the first Prowlers which came to Houston. River Oaks Chrysler auctioned them off for $96,000, $89,000 and $78,000 for all three. When asked why they would not sell them for SRP, the Sales manager just laughed.. It's the American way... It's to bad they didn't give a lot more people a chance to own the Last of its kind.. I too think they would have gotten a lot more money.. ------------------ |

quote: Daryl, I do not think you can claim a write-off if you receive something in return for a charitable donation. On the other hand, you might be able to write off a portion such as the difference between what you paid minus the fair market value. This is a question for TaxKat. ------------------ |

I, too, am disappointed in the decision about the fate of this car. Personally, I felt it should have been placed in the Chrysler Museum and be made a part of history as it certainly has been. If that was not the option (which we now know it isn't) it should have been raffled off so that anyone and everyone would have had a chance at it. However, the decision has been made. Let's just hope that whoever buys it will give it a good home. By the way, I also heard that there is a gentleman from New York who has 18 Prowlers!!! Mike, I would go BUT let God tell you if it is right for you. Well on spending that much. If it were me (and had the money) One half says no more than $75,000 for both. The other half says lets see who has the deepest pockets....... ------------------ |

No question in my mind: More than $100K - easily. I agree, a raffle would have been more fun and lots more inclusive. Kevin |

I can tell you that Richard is the first name of the gentleman in New York who owns 18. And yes, the matching trailer that you see in the picture will be auctioned off with the car. |
