I hope that they are alright and have weathered the awful destruction that Katrina has brought to Louisiana. Our prayers are with them.

CJ: I'll try calling Laddie at lunch to see if they are ok. Don't know whether or not cell phone coverage is back in action or not. T

Checked into it and Mandeville got hit really hard. I've been trying all day and all I get is that the circuits are busy and one message said that because of the hurricane I should try my call later. I may try and get in touch with some of his racing buddies to see if they've heard anything. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. T

I was able to find the news article below:

In Mandeville, mostly wind damage

Moday, 9:30 p.m.

Although Mandeville escaped major flooding, the streets were virtually impassable hours after the storm left a dangerous tangle of power lines and pine trees across roadways. Police officers cruised up and down U.S. 190, but were unable to respond to the few calls from residents reporting gas leaks or severe structural damage.

“We’ve got damage everywhere,” Sgt. Ron Ruple said. “Almost every street in the city is blocked.”

Thick pine trees toppled almost in an east-west line near Montgomery Street, cutting off access to the lakefront. Police Chief Tom Buell said he expected some flooding in Old Mandeville, but by 4 p.m. officers had yet to carve a path through the debris to survey the Lakeshore Drive

CJ: I'll keep trying and let everyone know if I get in touch with them. I may try to track down Jimmy (the co-owner of his Vette) to see if he has any news, but I bet Jimmy and his family are in the same situation as Laddie and Karen. I think I'll try and get in touch with some of the Confederate racers and see if someone has any news. T

It sounds like the power is out all over down there. The cell phone towers are probably down, also. It could be days before any of them get electiricity and possibly weeks until they all do.
I sure hope they all left the area before the storm hit. New Orleans must really be a total mess.
I don't understand how New Orleans has never flooded totally in the past. With three sections of the dikes missing you would think the water would be pouring in. I hope they can get it repaired quickly. The bridge over lake Ponchetrain has numerous sections missing and a bunch more sections that are pushed to the side.

Julie spoke to Angelle tonight.
Laddie and family are all safe.
Their house had a tree hit it and has some wind damage but everyone is well.
Mandeville is North of New Orleans across the lake.

Sprint alona has over 75% of their cell sites down, can only imagine that the others are in the same boat ... will be a while before communication is back up in that area I guess ..

Hi Everyone... CJ, Tammy and POA friends, We're OK...

We're at my daughter's house in Prairreville,LA (near Baton Rouge). We were out of power here until last night. I drove back to Mandeville early yesterday morning and lots of trees down and one on the house... It's a mess around that area from wind damage. The house will be fine. You can hardly travel 200' without having to dodge or manuever around down trees or power lines. Overall we're very lucky...

Until last night, we had no idea of the damage until we saw some of the footage fromt the National TV. It's really devastating. I hope everyone else is OK...

At my new location in Hester, I lost some flashing off my steel building garage. Still out of power there...

My guess we'll be out of power and services for some time...

Thanks for the concern. On the way into Madisonville & Mandeville through back way (Hwy 22) The police had the road blocked, I stopped and the police said you're not suppose to be driving on these roads. I said I know... Than they said go ahead & see if you can get into Mandeville there's trees down across the road...

Laddie and Karen, glad to hear you and family are OK. If a tree is your only damage, you are truly lucky in this situation.
Take care. Glad you have a good situation to weather this crisis.
