Terrible news. This historic landmark was totally destroyed.....It had been in CONTINUOUS operation for 185 years.

Watch the attached clip and listen as the lady commentator's voice "cracks" as she talks about the beloved landmark.

(Rumor is that it will be rebuilt but probably will have to be re-built under TODAY'S building codes so it just won't be the same, unfortunately)....

The news made the local newspaper. The headline read Birlington, KY landmark burns. I didn't know it was Rabbit Hash until I read the story. Some great memories there thanks to Ed.

The Rabbit Hash General Store has been RESTORED, not rebuilt and opens to the public tomorrow. They just showed a picture on the news and it looks exactly the same, only with new paint.
I will attempt to get a pic to post.

It is way out in the sticks, with great roads to ride a bike and therefore a lot of bike clubs make it a destination. Also, there is enough room to park 3 or 4 cars but they squeeze about 100 bikes in there sideways. It is not normally anywhere near that crowded, it is on the Historic Register and they just re-opened to the public yesterday and today was a fairly nice day, compared to the recent cold and rainy days, therefore it was the perfect storm for a lot of bikers. They were all extremely nice and were helping direct traffic to get the cars out of the Mexican standoff. Quite a few commented on my car.

Went back down to Rabbit Hash today. I take my granddaughters for a m/c ride now and again. Sara had an off day so we went down to see it. She had never been there. Not very crowded today.

Note the Acorn birdhouse behind Sara

We are open, just grab the spoon and come on in.

I passed the 100,000 mile mark for the second time on a Goldwing. I intended to get a shot right at 100,000 but we were talking and I forgot about it

Since it wasn't right on 100,000, I didn't bother to take a picture until I got home. You are correct, that door was locked. It wasn't on the store, but across the street.
