I called U-Haul and they have straps that go around the tires and not the suspension to tow the Prowler. I have searched the forum and have not seen mention of tire straps. Is this acceptable to tow the Prowler.

If you are referring to the style that goes around the tread, I would think it would be OK but it may be difficult to get them between the tire and fender.

I have seen someone here post that they put a rag on the wheel between the spokes and ran the strap through the wheel to secure the car on a trailer.

Unless the roads being traveled are excessively bumpy, securing the wheels to a dolly or trailer securely should work well unless there is a concern with the car moving up and down due to limited room around it.

works just fine for strapping . The Uhaul comes with tire straps they fit and wrap around the front wheel under the fender. then there is back hooks No other straps needed.

The trick is that the ramps. They won't clear with the mud flaps and bottom of the car easy.
So bring a number of 2x8's or wood to put under the ramps.the best for me was boards in front of the ramp that lifted the car prior then. Few boards under the ramp so the ramp height was raised. With that no problem. Also if you tow to another Uhaul location and call ahead most places will help you unload for free.

Ramp trouble

1 method to clear. But not safest under wheels.
The Best that worked was putting the wood planks below the ramps. To raise it up and it cruised right in

Up and in finally

Pulling

Pm me if you like to talk through it.
If your renting a truck also get the fleet rate.

Here is a pict of the straps in front .

Overall had a great experience and the f150 pulled great and very comfortable. They let me store the truck and trailer at my destination then helped me load again to take it back home. Did well at the show also

Made it to the show with Steve Magnete

With team Dodge and SRT driver John Hammer

Trey summed it up very well. I just used one to tow mine home. Couple things I ran into, like Trey said the rockers hit if the ground is level. Here in the country there a lot of hills and inclines, I backed the trailer up to a incline and when I pulled the ramps out they were at a very little incline. Prowler drove on perfect. When I got home I just backed up to the incline in my front yard and came off just fine. The space between the tire and the fender is not much but the straps will fit. I brought a couple towels to wrap around were the safety chains will go front and back. I also brought a couple nylon straps and fastened them also. Trey your Kat looks awesome, I saw you in a Utube video you made after you put the Hemi in. What grill do you have, in my opinion that is the best one I have seen. Trey your right red is the fastest LOL.

Thanks the compliment I actually picked the grill up here on POA used in classifieds during the Build from another owner. I think prowler products by gary used to make them. Just one of the many tricks used to keep the Hemi Kat cool. Yes we have like 100 vids on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/user/Treyb1/videos
and regular posts weekly over at www.facebook.com/hemiprowler

In summary as shared above I would use Uhaul again when I have to do another long haul on my own but we typically drive to events. This is a 1 off custom that actually works and drives. 4,300+ happy Hemi miles of smiles in 1.5 yrs and counting. Happy towing! Hope the background helped.

looks like I will need some 2 X 8s.

Thanks all for the information. In those photos, note there are two different trailers, one that has a silver floor and one with an orange floor. The one I am going to rent has sides that fold down (like in the video), different than what Trey used.

You will be using the same type Trey used, there is only one uhaul model that the Prowler will fit on. When you tell them you are hauling a Prowler they will give you the correct model. Uhaul has there &^$# together.

Just drive the car and pull your trailer.

Then pay to have it detailed when you get home and will be money ahead.

If you rent u haul or any trailer if you jack the front of the trailer up before starting to load then the angle will be less. Don't know if you can get it high enough but every little bit helps. With the jack on the trailer and a few boards or a 4x4 or 6x6 block to put under the jack you can lift the back of the truck and front of the trailer quite a bit.

Larry,

I would normally drive it, but with the Borlas, the drone at highway speeds is uncomfortable and you can't hear the radio or talk to one another. I like to listen to audiobooks on trips and it is impossible.

Then that is simple, change the exhaust back today and the hell with the trailer. One reason I never changed my exhaust is being a 6 the sound is never right and the factory did a good job at making it sound ok without annoying.

You do know we are going to drive 2 hours to builtmore?

Richard, I think I still have a stock system somewhere. I can trade you a stock exhaust for that dreaded BORLA and I won't even make you pay a premium for helping you out. This is my final offer and is only good for two weeks, not open to out of town owners, tax not included.

My Kat has Paxton Headers, an X pipe, along with the Borla Muffler and gears so I can appreciate where you are coming from.

I have traveled 11 hours one way in a day several times at highway speeds going back and fourth to visit my parents in South Carolina.

I guess what saves me a lot of the noise is the Dyna Mat installed by the original owner throughout the car, under carpets, inside doors & door panels, in trunk etc... I genuinely believe it was worth the effort to install.

If you want to trade your Borla for a stock system, I have a couple here ready to go.
