All the hardware's in. I'm using 2 points on the outside bracket. I think that will look a lot better. Stacking wouldn't look good and prob. hit the hood too. Then I was thinking one on top of the bracket and the other on the bottom sharing a bolt like the sketch. I’m going to put them side by side.Didn't have any spray paint so I wrapped the bracket quick. Once I cut the hole with a better blade it'll look better. Using M6 hardware on front and rear locations. Got a few bolts with a shoulder to use with the hielm joints. I’m happy how it’s coming together.

I am happy with initial install. I closed the hood, no issues at all. The strong arm strut clears as well. Little polish and we'll be all set.

Thank you. I had a local machine shop do them. I had the .50 diameter rod and left and right hand taps. I have drawers full of hielm joints from projects thru the years. Same as the other support 3/8 ends. Just hit em with a little double 0 steel wool and locked em up. Tricky part was the mounting hardware but I Love it.

Since the HiBoy kit I have absolutely hated my exhaust pipes hanging out of the back. The body is too small out back for huge pipes. I whacked em right at the radius as it curves under the "A" arm. Much cleaner, def needed that

I cut it right as the tube bends around the lower control arm. You will love it!! No where near the rear valance.

Make sure it is tucked away safely as I understand there is a severe hurricane warning around the Naples (West Coast Florida) area.

Kees I really hope to get to meet you someday, always got my back! No worries my friend. She’s got a very safe garage at my place. My house is rated for 155 mph winds. It’s literally a brick sh*thouse!!! Again, thank you for the heads up. I remember you saying some very nice things when my mother passed. I really appreciate you.

I have always wanted to do something cool with the rear cross member. Bored yesterday and started sketching and playing around a bit. It progressed as the day went on. Final design 18" over all center to center, 10 holes 2" on center. Bore 1" thru hole, slip in a piece of tubing, weld up both sides and we're golden!! All done by hand it'll take a while and I have to build a welding jig also to keep it square. A lot of welding, plenty of meat between the holes so it'll be super strong and possibly lighter. I am going to weigh before and after. Gonna to have to figure out the stud hardware situation, most likely put a tapped plate inside or weld nuts flush and run bolts thru. I have 1" O.D. .125 wall 6061-T6-Extruded aluminum tubing coming today. This should keep me busy for a bit.

thinking outside the box again

I like the idea

Some want to cover the rear of the car, I personally like seeing it

Adding the holes will give it something else to add to the look

Looking forward to the finished product

Thanks Larry. I love seeing the chassis, it’s a total work of art!!! Going to take a little while to do but it will definitely be worth it.

So after evaluating the project and my ability to make this happen in my garage in Florida and be right,I’ve decided to send it up north and have my father build it for me at my old shop (he still has ownership he’ll never retire) I actually am super excited that my old man at 73 is going to be running a Bridgeport and tig welding this up for me. For me to make a jig and set up for tig welding here is quite expensive and I don’t see myself doing much more chassis work so it would be a waste. I will post pictures as he sends them 🤙🏻 he’ll be back in October and him and I will install it together. It’ll be the only part of my car I haven’t done myself. I think it’s pretty cool that he wants to do it himself for me. Shop has a full machine shop and my old welding department is equipped to handle this kind of job and can be done in a day. Need a tig welder with some juice for chassis work, the guy who runs the grinding department there is who polished my vents and gas cap. I think the boys at the shop will be happy to have a “c-job” sneaking through the shop. Especially since dad’s gonna be running it through and he’s the only person we used to hide them from!! Growing up I built the craziest cars and trucks and always snuck “c-jobs” thru. I can see the text messages now lol
