Have more pictures but they are too large and haven't figured out how to make them smaller to post

I posted a picture of my car with my new to me yellow hardtop

And showed the trunk lid open with the top on

Tom Mills made 3 custom 2 piece deck lids to be able to access the trunk without having to remove the hardtop or even flip the soft top forward

Mine has been on for almost 4 years and love it

Tom has one on his Woodward

Steve Clark has the 2nd one on his HighBoy

Seems there wasn't a lot of interest in them so Tom decided not to go ahead and make any more.

Several people made comments on the Facebook page about mine and if available

In discussing with Tom this past few days he still has the molds and drawings needed to get the parts made.

Has a company that has agreed to make the glass parts and another to make the steel brackets

So how many people would be interested in purchasing a custom 2 piece decklid to have access to the trunk with the top in place

They will not be cheap

They will not be painted and it isn't an easy DIY project

Tom's original estimate was to be able to sell them for $3,000 4 years ago

So every one keeps asking HOW MUCH, Tom never really put a price on it since each one is kind of a one off

So I ask what he thought it would cost now. With the price of everything going up he would have to actually get numbers together and see but he said the BALLPARK FIGURE unpainted and picked up FOB in Mishawalka @ $3,500 . If shipping involved each one would need packaging and shipping cost added

This number is just a number. Could be the number but for interest a number you can think about. He would still like the number to be the $3,000, but needs to get prices and put a package together

Also thinking a limited run

To go forward with the project a confirmed commitment with a deposit and looking for 10-20 confirmed to proceed with the project

So is there 10 people out there with a hardtop that would like to access their trunk without removing their top and willing to spend the money for a 2 piece decklid

For many it would mean paying someone to paint and install the decklid and electric remote, so whatever that would cost added to the cost of the deck lid.

if interested post here and once it looks like the could be 10 or more confirmed ordered Tom might concider making them

It would make it much easer to turn on and off the Nitrous bottle and into the trunk with the hard top on.. John(onecatnodog)

Come on guys Don't make me buy 6 just to make it happen.. I would have to sell the car to do it.. No I'm not selling the Purple car as I went threw that the last time I mentioned that.. Not For Sale.. If you want people to continue to go out of there way to make Prowler Parts, like Radiators, PCM's Side Panels, suspension parts and what have you, you have to support them if you can.. I just think it would make you car WAY DIFFERENT when out with other Prowlers and It sure would make it easer with the convert top up or with a hard top on to get into the trunk.. It makes it kinda like a transformer.. You keep the original factory set up and can always change it back, or use it for wall art..

I gotta be honest….

I paid $$$ for “subfall”, oval side panels, adjustable coil overs , Stainless Works exhaust and have issues with each one so I’m kinda done with high dollar projects.

Just me tho…

I bet you never got anything from Tom Mills that wasn't perfect.. Do you have one of his fuel pump kits, or maybe a window regulator kit in your car.. Tom has very high standards, and there is nothing that he puts his name on that's junk.. Let us know who you got the bad parts from and why there were bad. If they don't know there is a problem the problem can't be fixed.. John(onecatnodog)

I can’t believe people aren’t jumping all over this. Watch cool kittys Prowler Road Trip part 4. Look at Larry Mayes showing this mod on his prowler & look at the quality of it. Listen to him talk about the quality products Tom Mills produces. You will probably never see this offered again.

I’m fortunate to have #3 on my highboy. Tom is a perfectionist, if he’s putting his name on it, it’ll be done right. The tricky part here is the installation.

I see you mslc10 picked up some mud flaps from Ton Mills and did the install with no issues and you said they were perfect as that is the way Tom does stuff.. So I guess you have made a purchased from Tom Mills.. But I also did read your 3 time shock issue with out a lift. That can be a killer and could be the reason for your thoughts.. I'm not sure on the other part issues.. But I can understand that sometimes you need a break form playing with cars. I have been there.. John(onecatnodog)

The list so far

Onecatdog : 1 unit
Dick Henry : 1 uniy
Adacus : 2 units
Wayne Finch : 1 unit
Beware: 1 unit

6 units so far.

Keep the momentum going. Let's make 10 units.

I reached out to Tom via FB to see if he would consider a run of 5 units. Waiting for his reply.

Not to hijack but to respond to onecat.

Sorry I should have not added my 2 cents about issues not relavent to the original post. I did not mean to disparage any of Tom’s products.

Oh btw….
. “ Have you Grilled them about the issues that you had.”

That was bad!!!!

That is one of the coolest Mods ever. If I had a Hard Top, it would be an easy decision. I had a hard top on my old car, never could get it to seat right. I HATE in cockpit rattles so my Hardtop just never fit my driving style well. I even bought the longer pins that were made, tried everything. The look is incredible. That piece is one of the coolest mods I have seen. And, if Larry has had it for 4 years, and LOVES it, that is a testament to the quality, IMHO.If I had the money lying around, heck I'd buy one "just in case" . Super cool.

John

It’s also great for getting into the trunk when the softtop is up. Especially you get caught out in the rain. Even more so if you also have a passenger in the car at the time.
