OK thinking of getting the front end of my 99 chromed.

Figure I will need:
1. A complete set of bushings for the front end.
2. Upper and Lower Ball joints
3. Front Caliber rebuild kit
4. Stainless brake lines
5. New Rotors (not required, but as long as its torn apart)

anything else?

IMO,

Buy a car with chrome front suspension already

There have been a few sell recently with it already done

You want to get yours done

There are a couple people that had theirs done recently

John Stuttles documented his process very well

He had aluminum pieces polished & steel chromed. best way IMO

One other got his & brothers all chromed

Both my cars have chrome but was done by Gary Empfield (he no longer is involved in doing them)

Having chrome calipers, I would suggest just painting them

It does make the front look fantastic

Your list is correct for the exception of the bushings… The. Chroming process is done with the bushings still installed in the A-arms and does not harm them (Gary’s we’re also done this way)… You should remove the ball joints prior to chroming and will need new ones installed.
The 3 cons to chroming is the wait time/ shipping effort/ and cost
The pros are off the chart… There is no comparison to chroming in my opinion.
Polishing is a step up to OEM but no where near a full chromed suspension…
I’m in the process of re-install as I write this but here are a few parts I got back for your viewing….
I will say this… Once you have the front chromed, it’s hard to go back to having anything else…
PM me if you need additional help…

That’s the one thing I really regret is not doing that when I could have. Had too much going on and my build took way longer than expected. I still wish I did it. It’s quite expensive as well from what I understand.

Personally I like the painted caliper matching the body to break up the sea of chrome. Chroming the calipers is difficult in that it is hard to get in the nooks and crannies and will eventually rust if it gets wet enough.
Get bolt covers to cover all the exposed treads as they will also rust.

Chrome is awesome and easy to keep clean.
