Wondering what your thoughts are on the Paxton on theses cars. To noisy?
More maintenance? Transmission issues. Thank you for your comments good or bad. Kirk

I think one of the biggest issues was throwing belts. And as I recall occasional overheating. And it does have a decided whine. But there are many more knowledgeable than me that may chime in.

IMHO They sound terrible. I have heard em on these cars and I don’t care how much power it makes. I had an s10 blazer with the 4.3 and was so excited to put a Paxton on it. I was beyond disappointed with the sound, truck was a beast but I pulled the blower and sold it at quite a loss. I couldn’t stand the sound at idle. Sounds broken. Look up some YouTube videos. I don’t want to sound negative about your project, just giving you my thoughts from personal experience.

The new Lotus has a 3.5 with a Roots type blower (replaces the entire intake manifold) I have been thinking about what it would take to machine custom adapter plates for something along those lines. Can of worms though you know the deal!! Fuel system etc.

Good luck with whatever route you take with this and keep us posted.

That’s a big investment. Smart move digging for information before you jump into it. I wish I had before I did that S10. I don’t know your budget but if I were looking for some power I would get a hold of johnonecatnodg or Tony. They know the answer to anything I have ever hit either one of them with and they’re 2 great guys as well. Good luck brother, keep us posted.

They can have an issue with both heating and throwing AC belts, but the whistle is worth the price of admission. Now if I can just figure out how to keep an AC belt on it....

Is it an alignment issue? I would love to get my hands on one and try to figure that one out! A/C unit has a “V” belt. I don’t know how much the Paxton modifies this configuration but I have always wanted to design a serpentine system that utilizes one belt and a spring loaded tensioner for everything. New pullies throughout 5-6 rip serpentine system I believe would solve that problem

I need to get an engine on a stand over here, I really do. I also want to fabricate that coolant line that rots out, out of stainless steel or aluminum. And the list continues to grow lol

They make laser alignment tools that take the guess work out of belt alignment.

I love the whistle-just tell everyone have an exhaust leak- most look questioning?? I have outside air intake and no cooler. Never had an overheat issue in Fl. Not a lot of miles, just 19K. Never had an AC belt issue-but had to replace AC hose and small change to ac hose routing as it was rubbing the compressor pulley. Definitely Worth It!

Also LOVE the whistle. Wouldn't want to drive one without that sound, lol. Yes, it does have a slight coffee grinder/gear backlash noise, not bad, but notable. Never overheated either, in up to 95 deg weather with ac blasting. Never thrown a belt. We've put about 8k miles on ours this year. I did add an air-to-air intercooler under the car. Dropped intake temp a solid fifty degrees or so, on the highway. I'd like to get another 20 degrees of intake temp out of it, maybe a spare side panel with a NACA duct?

Brother, you and I definitely have to drag race when you get back down here. You SHOULD spank me. I am curious to see how much power that Paxton really makes. Just to be clear this is a friendly suggestion, no bad vibes at all I just am very curious about how much scoot my car has up to a supercharged car. If you don’t want to there is absolutely no problem with that.

Tyson fights never gonna happen! We should turn this into an event lol we get a crew together for a weekend and cruise around! Older more knowledgeable with obviously more power (Tyson-you) younger and from what I understand from my modifications considerably lighter with a little more power than most (Me-the other guy) I’m not expecting to win but we could make this a lot of fun. Maybe we rent the track for the day between a few guys it ain’t that bad and everyone messes around a bit? I am curious about a lot with leaving it in “D” vs auto-stick. I have no idea how to set something up, I am positive Steve wants in. I believe he is on the road for a little while tho. This would be a lot of fun and give me a reason to put a hitch on the Jeep 😉
