If you install headers on the Prowler do you have to use the heat shields ?... Some headers offer ceramic coatings for dispersing heat and I'm assuming that this would eliminate the need for the shields. If you don't get the ceramic coating is it possible to remove the shields and remain safe...?

any thoughts would be appreciated,,

Thanks, Jim

Hi - I ran Paxton "shorty" headers for a few years. I did wrap them headers wrap.
I also used Prowler Pro long tube headers. No wrap.

Never had a heat problem.
Make sure that no wires touch. You can also use good quality aluminum reflective duct tape to cover any areas that you may be concerned about.

Thank you for the info Tony.... I see they have shorty's on ebay for the 3.5 L Charger/Magnum... My heat shields are a bit rattely so I'd like to get rid of them.... The louvers I am putting on the hood are going to be functional so I can dump some heat there... Thanks again for your help, Jim

My prowler has the Paxton headers on it from what I have been told as they were on it when I got the car.

The headers are wrapped as are the converters. I have put 12,000 plus miles on the car in the past two seasons without any issues. The car also has dynamat throughout the interior which helps a lot.

I have Dean's headers with cats. The cats come with a heat shield. The headers have a ceramic coating.
I have never had a heat issue with the installation.
In fact the engine compartment runs cooler with the headers.

I have long tube headers and no Cats, no shields, no problems. The big difference I have seen is on the end of 1/4 mile runs, I can be side by side with about 200 ft to go, it just starts pulling and leaving!
