I am restoring another prowler that has been sitting for 4-5 years with almost no driving. Car presented clearly had a bad fuel pump when i got it and had the usual hard start issues.

Right now after about 30 seconds to 2 minutes of use the car will stall out at idle, and only idle. I restart the car and happy and will do 100 mile trip without issues. Total miles on the car is 23K and no history of accidents or repairs.

So far the car has had this done.
New timing belt
New battery.
New Fuel pump.
Upgraded ground straps.
Cleaned ECU pins.
Cleaned injecters
Full fluids.

Car starts perfectly fine first turn of the key after sitting, will idle better then any Prowler I have ever owned, AC blows cold. But every single time I drive the car it will stall out in the driveway or at the first light.

I have checked fuel pressure, battery voltage everything. When the car stalls it does not store any codes. I get a bit of a shake in the motor and then again fires up first turn of the key.

I have loosened the main harness wires to the ECU which I know was an issue on my last car, the better ground, I confirmed clean ground to the ECU. I am not seeing any voltage drop from the battery and it tests clean.

I am pretty stumped. If it was carbureted I would say I have a vacuum leak somewhere. That is what it feels like. Does anyone have any ideas.

Right now I am convinced there is something in the startup procedure where the car goes from closed to open loop and drops the RPM down that is the root cause. But a bad idle control valve or similar issue would present more then one time for sure.

Had to re-registers with a capital M in my login name lost my password from 20 years ago like you do.

I had a similar situation and it turned out to be the Throttle Response Sensor. Mine would start fine but then idle high then low and die/turn off.
It’s right above the air intake by the air tube by the fire wall.

So I did a bit more digging. I am seeing a 15 psi or so drop in fuel pressure right at time of stalling. If I see the drop and I put my foot down on the gas I get a increase in pressure and the car will not stall. If I let it idle it will.

I have my factory service manuals being shipped to me right now so I can dig through the whole fuel system. But I do not see the drop in pressure if I cycle the key three times.

This only happens now when the car is dead cold and only on the first startup. I will report back in once I can give more A/B data.

Also it might be some time, I was testing the car yesterday and something fell off a truck and punched the radiator or one of the coolant lines. Happened about 2 miles from home and I had the car towed back. It's on my lift right now but I have not had a chance to really dig into that problem.

I have never heard of that in a Prowler, but I don't have my service manuals in front of me. Given that the car runs at the normal operating RPM right at startup that could be something I really need to look into.
