Why have a car you can't drive John? Steve I am sure we will be joining you along with Kees, if all works out. I don't know about Dick L. I will make sure Butch knows about it, also.

Dru, the road trip to the Las Vegas event was the most fun I have had on a Prowler trip. There have been some other great ones, but that one took the cake. Steve pulled into the same gas station as us on the east side of Indy about a minute or two after we did. Then we met Pete on the other side of Indy. They didn't see us so I told Sandy to call him and give him some grief. He was intent on setting up his new USA phone and didn't see us pull in. He laughed so hard when he saw us, it made my day. RIP Pete. We still miss you.
We caught up with Bruce and Carole a little later and a little late and the fun ensued.
Great memories from that trip. We couldn't find a parking spot to watch the staged shoot out and stopped in the middle of the street just as the gun fight ensued. We were almost 10 feet away.
Stayed overnight in Purgatory, it wasn't close to Hell. We will have some fun on the way out. We are already looking forward to a great time. Thanks for setting this up.

Get your motor running, get out on the highway.

Not afraid to drive the cars, drove to WV and Gatlinburg and other events. In speaking with a fellow member in Gatlinburg, on why they now trailer their car (They too, used to drive it) their reasoning makes great sense. These cars are over 20 years old. Many places we drive have no dealers or places to fix them. If you break down in one of those remote areas, where will the car go for repairs ? And, due to the rarity, some parts may not be readily available. So your car sits while you search for parts. And you must travel back and forth to get it. I am probably being paranoid, and worrying about a lot (I have never broken down, although I did get a Nasty flat) that may not happen, and of course your trailer can break down, your truck you trailer with can break down. But those vehicles may have a better chance of being fixed properly. Traveling with a bunch of Prowlers helps and, yes, its an absolute blast.

Another thing that is new, at 64 YOA, I don't and Shelley really does not travel well, like we used to. Her back and her sciatica start bothering her. She doesn't enjoy the long trips really. We didn't do some of the longer trips in TN as she learned in WV, it was uncomfortable for her. The Prowler has limited foot well space for her to change up her position much. But, as Ed is saying, and as I know, caravaning with a bunch of Prowlers, (in the old days with your Walkie Talkies on!) was such a blast. We will see.

John, two things. AAA meembership to tow the car if it breaks down. Even new cars break down, more often than OLD cars probably.
Secondly and much more important. Sandy couldn't sit in the Prowler for long periods waaay back in 99 to 02. Then she found that putting a pillow or two on the seat really helped. A prescription called Neurontin helps dramatically, also. Sandy had sciatica so we rode the m.c. to our first Prowler event. She could move around more. Eventually she had both hips replaced so now it is no longer a problem. Good luck, hope you can find a fix for Shelly. back pain is the worst.

Thanks Ed! We will look into this. I have to decide which Prowler(s) to keep and which ones are collectors (Candy) and which ones can be driven, I know we differ, but Hookers car (I purchased) has NEVER been in the rain and it absolutely shows. I didn't expect to fall in love with it, after all its a color that WAS not my favorite on the Prowler. Until now. Loved to always see Richard Jacksons (God rest his soul, what a wonderful man he was) and Dick Henrys with what was done and those Blue Flames are totally Bad ASS! Thats why I asked about a Blue top. I'll let Shelley know about the Meds. Thats great info,

John

Natchez Trace is really a super nice drive. No lights, no traffic, no signs, you are driving through a park. No gas stations or stores, you have to exit to get gas or eat. We have done it several times already and we are looking forward to doing it again.

Hi Steve, just making the reservations for the return trip along the Natchez Trace.
A minor detail perhaps but I assume you mean Sunday 10/27 Tupelo instead of 10/29, just to make sure I do not loose sight of Ed and Sandy

best regards,

Kees

Rooms booked! Spoke with Butch Stenger about the trip. Sounds like he may be interested.

Nice route. I’m very familiar with some of those roads. I’ll be coming over from Huntsville through Northern Arkansas. I’d advise Highway 60 out of Poplar Bluff to Springfield and then down to Branson and on to Eureka Springs if you want better roads. That area is near wilderness in southern Missouri south of US 60 and Northern Arkansas. Rugged hills, nice towns, and not great roads but good scenic drives. Used to be part of the Indian nations once upon a time. 60 is fourlane highway all the way to Springfield and four lanes to Branson.
Natchez Trace is interesting but in my experience not a lot to see except trees. I think there’s a pretty low speed limit as I recall, but it’s been years since I took it.

Heading from Huntsville to Jonesboro Arkansas on the first leg. Then across old once familiar two lane black tops to Eureka Springs. Perhaps a similar path on the way back. You guys all seem to have some nice routes laid out.

On the Trace there are a few neat things but require getting out and some hiking, not really long hikes but it does take some walking on hilly terrain, but worth the effort.

To anyone caravaning passing the I55/57 junction at US 60. Contact the original location of Lambert’s Cafe in Sikeston, Missouri. Home of the thrower rolls. If there are several of you coming they may make arrangements with you to eat there. It’s a dining experience you won’t soon forget. My hometown many decades ago.

John made some good points about the reason to trailer a car and Ed made some good counter points. We honestly don’t know how many more Prowler events we are going to be able to attend. We both have health issues. But what I do know is I am no longer physically able to deal with everything that’s involved with pulling the car on a trailer. Hopefully we can hang in there to at least the 30th anniversary.

For those that know us, we had a deal. If the drive to the event was a day or less CJ drove. If it was more than a one-day trip, we trailered. I carried many a car for fellow owners during an event so there are advantages to trailering.

Debbie and I hope to make it up to Natchez Saturday and hopefully have dinner with our Prowler friends ( Natchez under the hill has some cool spots overlooking the Mississippi River). Sunday we will follow along the Trace to Jackson before bidding farewell and turning for home.
