Light came on so I went to parts store. Brake Switch. I never heard of a brake switch. He gave me the part number and said it was the parking brake.
When I restarted the car the light was off. Anyone ever heard of that before?

There is a brake switch on the brake pedal that turns brake lights on when you hit the brakes. Do not think it would show up on check engine light. They might have cleared the codes when they checked for codes and that is why check engine light did not come back on. Drive it a little and see if it comes back on.

Thanks for the info Gary. I will let you know if it shows again. I got a low windshield washer light also. This is the orange car that came from Cal. without wipers and a chrome bezel so I am not real concerned about that one. lol

Ed, need to keep WSW fluid in washer bottle. Hi under hood temps can cause WSW bottle to distort and may leak when bottle gets hot!

Switch on the brake pedal would also be part of the engine start circuit. Sensing that you have the brake applied while starting.

In this instance it appears to be with reference to the parking brake. I don't know what that would do apart from illuminating a warning light that the brake was applied.
