On last run I was stupid- did not realize I in Autostick instaed of drive until it hit the rev limiter - I was beating an 86' Corvette converyible at that point by 1/2 car length. These runs are with no nitrous. Other people told me track seemd slower than last week and their times were .15 to.25 seconds slower than earlier. The new engine felt strong. Would love to run head to head with stock engine Prowler with gears to see how good engine is. With nitrous reinstalled, who knows????? ------------------

dpena | Hey Marty, Here is what JD and I did back when we just got our stage 1 Paxton setup. These runs were in Reno during the HOT AUGUST NIGHTS and it was hot down there.. Here is what the 1/8 mile Track Looked Like ![](http://www.prowlerexcitement.com/HAN/TheDragStrip/TrackTimes/sixrun.jpg)

Marty Usher | Dan - thanks for the comparison. I realize Reno is at a higher altitude. Frankly I was dissapointed with my times, but then all my previous runs were with nitrous. I plan to search for some of the other time slips posted for stock engines, stock with gears, and see if their 1/8 mile times and/or 0-60' times are listed. I went into this whole engine rebuild thing with the mindset that building an engine that will hold together with my nitrous shot was the primary goal and any extra poerformance was secondary. The car is certionly more fun to drive around town now han before. New exhaust and some tuning tweaks comin shortly along with reinstall of nitrous. |
Dale Beaman | Marty, Shouldn't you be in the 8's? Are you getting a lot of tire spin? I put a mild Chevy 350 (est. 325-350 hp), turbo 350 and 3:50 locker rear in a 68 Javelin at about 1000 lbs more than the Prowler. It ran 9.24 et (Owingswille, KY) with a 650 CFM (too small, leaning out on the top end) and closed headers. Expecting 8.90's with a 750 CFM, open headers, bump up the timing and soft tires. The reason I wonder is that my stock Prowler feels stronger than the Javelin (street legal)on the street. I have not ran the Prowler at the strip waiting for the recall to happen.

Marty Usher | Dale - I was hoping for low 9's but of course track conditions can changne times 2 to 3 tenths. The car launched decent, but my only comparisons are runs I have made with a 135 to 150 HP nitrous shots. Dan & John ran 9.7's with superchargers but I don't know how that works out when you convert because of altitude. The sad part, no matter how much you increase the HP, you only get 70% of it to the rear wheels! I had the fastest time for any non V8 without nitrous or Supercharger and better times than some of the V8's. I am hoping for high 7's when N2O kit goes back on. One ongoing problem is I keep blowing exhaust gaskets so car is backfiring a bit also with exhaust leak. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 06-05-2003 at 02:06 PM |

dpena | That is so SAD!!! I'm slower than a stock prowler ... with a stage 1 setup.I guess JD was right ..![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/confused.gif)

Marty Usher | The conversion I was looking far si adjusting times at altitude to times at sea level. The track here is only 456 feet avove sea level. Dan - my car is not stock anymore, just no nitrous added yet. ![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif) |
Gary Archer | Marty........ You didn't have NOS or your top notch tuner!![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif)

that bum left town a while back promising to be back soon....![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif) |
dpena | Marty, I take it I will not be racing you or JD anytime soon... I'm in the dark ages now with all these overhauled engines... If your doing an equivalent to a stage one Paxton setup and your still not juiced up... You are hauling some serious A** once the juice hits them ported chambers..![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif) I'm full of envy![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif) Later... |
Marty Usher | Dan - my car dynoed 38 RWHP more than Bob Hacker' totally stock Prowler on the same dyno, same day. Not awesome numbers but certainly puts some more fun into daily driving. With some tuning tweaks, exhaust R & D, and reinstalling the nitrous kit next month, I should be running in mid 12's (I hope) |
Larry Summers | Marty; I haven't run yet in 2003. I've been scouting around for a decent intercooler; however, my last 12 runs in 2002 (I have the slips)only had one time over 9 seconds in the 1/8th(9.0349)The other eleven were from a high of 8.7901 to 8.3789 without ever using nitrous. Anyone suggest a good intercooler for the Kat? My top 1/4 was ET of 13.0413 and 106.7501 MPH. |
Marty Usher | Larry - you posted your times were without nitrous, but you dod ahve a Paxton supoercharger, right? |
Larry Summers | I have a Paxton 1000. Also had it upgraded to boost approx. 11 1/2Max. Have Borla Exhaust and X-pipe, and Pro Prowler gears. |
Gary C | Larry, careful of that high boost, this was at 12 lbs.

Question Larry, does the timing adjust on it's own or do you have a knob to adjust the timing???????

|
Larry Summers | I adjust it by turning to 0 then counterclockwise to a 3 setting. I also run 100 octane gas. Can't see that it is any benefit. What timing setting do you recommend? The timing setting came as part of the Paxton kit. |
Gary C | With pump gas I was making 330ish hp at the rears and ran the 103 unleaded fuel, with 0 clicks,,,372 rwhp, I blew my deal up by trying to shift with autostick, wouldn't shift out of 1st and hit the limiter about 4 times and then she didn't run so go, .Good Luck and enjoy... ------------------
