prwlynThe South Texas POA group(7 cars) is planning on leaving on Wednesday(June 5th) morning early and will be going through the DFW area just prior to lunch time. I'm wondering if any of the DFW owners would like to meet up with us to Kat-A-Van on to Colorado. Right now we're planning on staying overnight in Amarillo and then cruising into the Event thursday afternoon.

We can arrange a meeting place you chose on the road up there or meet in Amarillo.. I'm looking to get Hotel names tomorrow sometime. Let me know if your interested in hooking up and we can then setup a meet later this week.

By the way, any and all suggestions of other routes are welcome if you know a better way..

You can e-mail me at fredh@prowleronline.com or post a reply here. Thanks.

KOOLKATLooking for Prowlers from Florida, Georgia and Tennesse that are going to Colorado.
prwlynWell I was wrong on the leaving day and time.. After mapping out several routes it appears we will be leaving on Tuesday morning instead of Wednesday morning. Depending on the route we take we will be staying Tuesday night in Wichita Falls and then in Dalhart on Wednesday night..

Second route is to stay in Oklahoma City, OK on Tuesday night and then in Colby, KS on Wednesday night.

Decisions, decisions!!

PAUL I'll have mine also, 713-502-2486

PaulRFred- You may want to consider Amarillo the first nite and then Colo. Springs the 2nd nite. Wichita Falls and Amarillo are only 200 miles apart. We will leave by noon on Monday and make at least Amarillo or Dalhart then into Westminster on Tues nite or early Wed a.m.. The route through OKC is a very long way muchless the smaller towns on Hwy 287 are a blast with the Kats and pretty good roads. We'll stay in touch.

prwlynI am leaning toward the westerly route myself but one of the guys said that would be one hell of a drive to go Houston to Amarillo in one straight shot, 695 miles and 12 hours drive... I'm looking at about 7 hours of driving and that gives us about 440 miles a day. I figure if we hit Wichita Falls (about 7 hr drive) and then stop in Dalhart (about another 7 hr drive) then into Westminister (about 5 hours)... I do not know any of the roads once outside of Houston area. I was in Dallas about 17 years ago and that was it.. I'm using MapQuest and mapped that route out this evening. If you know of anything better from down here I'm all ears.. I wanted to make the Drag night also but the others are not interested in that and we didn't want to drive it alone...

PaulRHere is our tentative route and schedule for those of us leaving the Dallas/N. TX area.
Depart Mon. June 3 @ 12:00 Noon drive to Amarillo arrive approx. 6:00 p.m.
Depart Tues June 4 @ 9:30a.m. for Taos, NM arrive Taos approx. 3:00 p.m. Mntn time. Spend the afternoon and evening in Taos sightseeing, shopping etc... then an evening cruise to the Taos Ski Valley roads. I found several awesome B&B's in Taos, now to decide on which one to stay at.
Depart Wed. June 5 @ 9:30 a.m. for Westminster, CO. Arrive approx. 3:00 p.m. for check in at the Westin aand then off to the drag strip.
This will be an awesome drive from Raton, NM to Taos through the mountain hwys. I hope to hook up with the S. TX Kats Wed. a.m. @ I-25 & Hwy 87 in Raton, NM perfect spot to meet and then cruise into Denver area. Anyone with some ideas feel free to jump in.
You can e-mail at pjr1108@attbi.com

jpo350I was planning on leaving DFW on Tuesday.
I am trying to determine when and at what point
to join a herd of Kats.
On Wednesday, I want to sightsee between Albuquerque
and Pueblo. On my first day, I put down a lot of
miles, ie 500+.

prwlynHey Joe, your welcome to join us from Houston. We're leaving on Tuesday morning and plan on staying in Wichita Falls Tuesday night. We'll stay in Dalhart on Wednesday night and head into Westminister Thursday. We should hit the Dallas area around lunch time Tuesday and Wichita Falls about 3:00 PM. I need to find a hotell there yet. E-mail me if your interested in joining in and I'll send you my cell phone number. We've got 5 cars going.

jpo350Fred, I will be running a day ahead of you at first.
However, I think I may be able to catch up with you
guys on Thursday for a ride into Denver. We might
even find the guys coming in from Arizona then.
You might consider making Raton, NM (I-25) on your
day two. There will not be much to slow down for in
west Texas, and you will probably be running pretty
good that day. You would like Raton a lot better
anyway.

bbrightonFred,

Would you do me the favor of posting (or emailing, if you prefer) the MapQuest URL for the specific route your group is planning on taking?

I'm trying to work out the logistics of flying in and joining one of the Tx katavans (is there more than one?) for part of the trip West.

Many thanks!

prwlynBrad, the MapQuest doesn't do the route we are taking, at least not in one map so here it is and you can plug it into MapQuest and get a printout. We're planning on being in Wichita Falls Tuesday afternoon/early evening. Then Wednesday morning we'll pull out of there about 8 or 9 AM and head to Dalhart, should be in there about 4 or 5 PM.. We'll leave out of there Wednesday morning about 8 or 9 AM and head to Westminster and should be there about 3 PM... If you plug in thoes cities you'll get the exact route we'll be on excecpt for the "downtown" pieces it likes to add to the directions. I'm looking for places to stay out on the Highways so we don't go into the cities..

Like PaulR and DavidN, I'll have the cell phone on at 713-502-2486 for the whole trip.. I think you have the choices now so you should be able to hook up with anyone of us..

Look forward to meeting you..
