I don't have all the details worked out, but it'll happen like this: Depart Phoenix/Chandler on Saturday morning and head east on US 60 and 70, checking out some historic sites (ghost town relics, flood gates, train station, mine, miners cemetary, etc) in Safford, Clifton, Morenci. Turn north onto the Devil's Highway and take in the scenery, arriving in Alpine or Springerville in the evening, where we'll have dinner and spend the night. This is intended as more or less an Arizona group cruise, but everyone is welcome. I'll post more details as I come up with them or you can contact me directly at cstall@cox.net. cstall@cox.net Check your private message box and your email - I sent you some info on lodging in Chandler. Curtcstall Set aside September 14 and 15 for a cruise up old US route 666, the Devil's Highway in eastern Arizona. This stretch of highway between Morenci and Alpine has been described as "1000 curves in 100 miles" and has the distinction of being the least traveled road in the US highway system. It rises from Sonoran desert in the south to 9100 foot pine forest in the north.
On Sunday, after breakfast, we'll take highway 180 into New Mexico and head south. Have lunch at White Water Canyon state park or in Glenwood before heading back to Phoenix.ALLEY CAT Those planning or thinking of attending this event, please contact Curt for more information. Looks like a fun filled two day trip!!! RBADKAT Curt, check your private messages.
Need info on room reservation, also for a place to stay Friday night.
