prwlynThis operation takes all of about 5 minutes. Remove the top of the dash and located right behind the Tachometer is a black box, in the dash, with the chrysler logo on it. It has a blue connector going into the top. Unclip the connector and replace the dash top. That's it. I removed the light bulb first but you may not need to do that. If the light does stay on then pull the dash top again and, using a flat edge screw driver, unclip the right set of bulbs face plate, white and grey plastic piece. If you do the top clip first it should simply tilt down and the bottom clips come undone. Remove the second bulb from the left of the row.

My system was going off all the time lately and the tires were at the correct pressure. This is why I disconnected the system. I also do not have the run flats any more anyway.. Hope this helps anyone wanting to do the same.

heynow14I was just going to ask if it could be disconnected. But how does the top of the dash come off? ~Robert
prwlynSitting in the drivers seat, grab the back corner of the dash top and give it a quick jerk toward you. Do the same from the right side also. The dash is only held on by about 8 plastic clips and pulls straight out toward you. Then lift it up and take it out or, as I did, set it on the passenger seat.. To reinstall, just set it on so the guide pins are lined up and hit it with the heel of your hand to lock it in..

WPGFred,
I am glad that fix worked. It is good to know that if in the future there are no techs to work on our cars, we will still be able to make our own revisions and make things work when we need to.

By the way what kind of tires did you buy?

prwlynI'm running the Dunlop SP9000's but not the run flat... I bought a large can of Fix-A-Flat... The ride on the 99 is much softer with them on now..

Can I just unplug the light bulb and leave the box connected to the blue wire? That is what I did.

Mine is 2001 also, but can't hear the chime, guess too hard of hearing.

LSKMy 2002 has a light, no chime. I haven't had run flat tires for years. I am currently running a matched set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS. I cured the light by covering it with a small piece of black electrical tape. If I need to remove the dash cover for any reason, I'll remove the bulb then.
quincyThe chime will cease after ~ 4 minutes of driving. Over time the chime will not occur at all. Put a piece of black electrical tape over the light. It will never turn off.
1997prowlerI have a 2000 and am running the continentals as well. The dash cover pops off quite easily. Pulled the bulb and disconnected the chime.
