Seems that mice had made themselves at home in the trunk and the soft-top & carpeting had been used for nesting, they made a real mess out of it. The first thing I did was to check on my Orange Prowler with a hardtop I don't drive very much at all & then my Yellow Prowler also with a hardtop, to my relief all was good so I decided to pull both hardtops off & keep the softop's up for storage. Having had antique cars for years that sat for long periods of unattended of time I also spend a small fortune on rodent control with cute little chipmunks being the worst culprits From now on my hardtop's come off for any long term storage. toys It's probably a good suggestion to check the storage area periodically! Don't expect to just jump in the car and go for a spin after a few months of mothballs sitting in your car, Unless you really like the smell of mothballs. I have found it really take's quite sometime to get rid of the mothball smell, in some of my old cars even though I haven't used mothball in some years they still smell like them. Dryer sheets work good as well, & then of course I have TRAPS OF ALL SORTS everywhere inside & outside. I get peanuts & hot glue them to the traps or push them into the sticky traps, I also have a really neat trap that I had gotten from an estate sometime ago, it is a 110 volt's & fries them on the spot like an electric Chair (this one is in a wooden box), & a few that wind up & are good for multiple rodents at a time. I don't really have a rodent problem & haven't caught any mice or rats in a long time, Just a lot of the cute little destructive chipmunks . toystoys Last night I had someone stop by who has had his hardtop on for the last 4 years with long term's of storage except for an occasional Sunday drive for me to install a set of gears in it for him, gear install went smooth until we took the hardtop off to install the speedo module . BeWare I usually keep our Cat stored with the soft top up to keep the insides clean. Bob Miller Good advice since my Prowler will be going into storage early next spriong. Marty Usher Long term storage for me is 10 days in the airport parking garage! galaxie I put moth balls in the kat, with the top up. A couple of years ago, I found straw in the area where the top is stored. Moth balls keep the pesky animals away. ETMIDZT I use Dryer sheets. Seems to work........Never an issue yet! toys Mothballs work well and I used to use them a lot,(bought them by the case)but not anymore, the only problem is that they also do the same thing for humans as they do for the mice, bugs etc. Ronald Heintschel For winter storage i put the hard top in the basement on its stand and put the soft up and latch it.
Read somewhere that this is how you store the car with the top up
