Gary C | First I want to say this G-tech is the Kats Meow. One more thing, these cars have the Carlini Borla Exhaust, when I first picked up my Kat with this modification I could tell right away I lost some bottom end but I gained alot of top end Power and the times show it. Hear we go. The book and Bob Longstreth told me to do this also. Throw out the best and worse and average the rest and you will have your info. These are in Order. 0-60...ET...MPH, Yes I did all 1/4 miles too 5.88 14.53 98.6 Not warmed up, almost 6.04 14.63 97.6 6.06 14.69 96.6 6.08 14.67 97.4 6.02 14.62 97.6 6.18 14.80 95.8 Let me tell you what I did on that crappy last pass, I hit the gas super super Prowlerman quick, there was a lag, I could tell I hit the gas tooooo hard. Let me put it this way, my knee hurts. This is the 2000, with 18700 miles on it. AND HAS THE MAC INTAKE. OK, we throw out the best and worst and then average. 0-60......ET.......MPH 6.05**14.652**97.3 BTW, All Done in Drive. 1000 feet 51 F 31% humidity Readem and weep 2000 owners.Remember this 1999 also has the Carlini Borla Exhaust with no other modifications. 0-60...ET...MPH 5.92 14.63 95.7 It hated the 2-3 shift 5.82 14.62 97.8 5.69 14.34 98.5 Instantly I knew this was fast 5.87 14.53 97.9 5.89 14.52 98.5 The 1999 shifts softer than the 2000. 0-60......ET......MPH 5.86**14.52**98.06 99 with Gears 0-60...ET...MPH 5.42 14.10 99.2 5.38 14.18 101 5.38 14.38 98.6 5.44 14.44 98.2 5.29 14.24 101 0-60......ET......MPH 5.35**14.26**99.6 Sometimes the the shifts are lazy on the 2-3, this is the reason for the times and MPH being all over the board. Plus this was some at the old Loaction and some at the New location, I feel I have pushed the limited on getting a ticket and do NOT NEED another one. ------------------

Gary C | Just goofing around and power braking the best 0-60 I got was a 5.09 on level ground. |
Gary C | I AM TOTALLY PLEASED, hurry and get a set of gears. |
butchcee | using your 5.09 0 to 60, that would translate to 14 flat quarter. What do you think you'll do about the 2-3 shift issue? ------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST |
Marc-Colo-99 | Gary I got almost a full second improvement with the change to gears. Expected you might see the same. Maybe the gears help more at altitude. I know in my boats they seemed to make more difference here than on the coast. When was your 9-'99 made?Mine was 8-98 and does seem faster than other 99's of later manuf. dates------------------ MRCAT2U |
butchcee | Marc or Gary, in your opinions, what do you attribute the difference in the speeds between the years-and why cant one year be made as fast as the other? ------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST |
Marc-Colo-99 | Butch Seems Dan Pena talked about the exhaust manifolds on the early 99's being tuned, and then DC changed suppliers and the new ones were not quite as efficient. Also some discussion about the softer suspensions on 2000's contributing to slower times off the line.???????? ------------------ MRCAT2U |
butchcee | I read that too Marc, but have yet to get a glimse at the manifolds because of the shields over them. I guess headers would even up the score.I wonder how much programing has to do with it.I have to bring my 99 jeep in again for a PCM programing recall for clean air stuff. This is the second time. This has to sap some power. ------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST |
jd2ksilver | Speaking of PCM and TCM upgrades. There is a dealer here who had a tech session with our cats and checked all of our codes revisions. Most were ready for upgrades,, even my 2000. I don't think DC issues the upgrade notices,, I remember when they upgraded mine if felt perkier,, altho I don't know what changed in the code. If you have good tech or dealer relations, wouldn't be a bad idea to get it checked. |

butchcee | Dan, your pics are labled 99 manifolds. You show a left and a right side manifold. Can we assume that the better flowing one is the 99 and the log type is the 2k and later? If the right side header is the 99 model, does the left side 99 look the same? I ask because sometimes they are different because of space restrictions. Also, I read that the 99's are unique to the Prowler while the later ones are shared with the passenger cars-right? Thanks for posting the Pics. Guess I'll have to incorporate the Paxton settup, or the 99 manifolds in my project.------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST This message has been edited by butchcee on 03-07-2001 at 09:36 AM |
butchcee | Hey Dan, Do you read this stuff? I looked at your pics on your Prowler Excitement page and saw that the same pics you posted above were labled 99 manifolds on your site. You mean theres that much difference between left and right side on the stock 99 manifolds? That's not too good! ------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST |
dpena | YES! These are the left and right manifolds off my 99 Prowler Roadster. I have not had an opportunity to take a pic of the 2000+ manifolds for the Prowler Roadster. They do not look the same... They are different. Later...

butchcee | Thanks Dan---geeze, what a difference! ------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST |
butchcee | Hey Dan-I was looking at your header pics again. Did you have a leak on the front and rear cylinders?-looks like carbon on the top of the flanges. Maybe just from handling-huh? ------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST This message has been edited by butchcee on 03-12-2001 at 09:34 AM |
