dean1948	Hello again, I am still looking to buy my first Prower. Still trying to decide on the color now that I decided I want the last year they were built.(2002) Needless to say all year models are beautiful vehicles. I haven't seen one that doesn't turn all heads when going down the highway. Some people doesn't even know what they are......What I need to know is,are the stock mufflers very loud on these cars. I had an opportunity to drive only one so far. The one I drove had a few modifications and the muffler seemed very loud inside the car. I was thinking maybe the person that own the car previously had changed the muffler. If the muffler being this loud is normal,has anyone got any suggestions on a muffler that would be quieter but still have the Purr? Please let know. I'm planning on traveling the week of Christmas to find the right Prower for me.....Thanks for your help..
xtreme prowler	Hi Dean, The Prowler as it sits stock is not loud... some remove the baffles in the tips to give it more purr... some gut the stock muffler to give it the Borla sound... Best way to check is look under the car and locate the triangular shaped stock muffler that is about 36" long... if its oval and only 24" it would likely be a borla... if it round and short it could be a magnaflo.... good luck in your search... beachcat	I have a stock muffler on one, sweet thunders on another and straight pipes on another. Stock is definitly quietest and I'm thinking might be my favorite. If you found the one that you heard was too loud, it was probably a modified exhaust. Start with stock and then maybe modify later. Welcome to the site by the way! Can you put in words the difference in sound between you Sweet Thunder and straight pipes? Also, did you get the 18" or the 24" Sweet Thunder? I am considering a Sweet Thunder muffler for early next year.
bjprowler	A stock muffler may sound "loud" to someone who is not accustomed to driving a Prowler....Most of us who have had ours for any length of time barely notice the interior sound. I can tell you that it is quite a bit louder with the top up than it is with the top down. I believe there have been some owners who have installed a liner under the carpet to deaden the sound....Someone may chime in with more info... If you're looking for a car that rides, drives and sounds like a Lincoln this ain't it
catfish	the prowler being a convertible,and not a hardtop,will be a bit louder than a real hardtop,no matter what exhaust you choose. ------------------

I'll know better next time The regular straight pipes remind me a bit of the old days when you rusted a hole in your muffler.I think it boils down to if you want it to sound good on the outside, you have to suffer a bit on the inside. Kinda like what catfish just said. If you stay with stock, it's more comfortable inside, but outside,,,,,meh. Of course when you're accelerating off the line, those STs sound good inside and out. But then the dreaded drone returns at highway speeds.

If I add the Sweet Thunder mufflers I'll experience a toned-down version of their sound, because I have Magnaflow resonator tips on my rear bumper removed Prowler. EdsCat is quite a bit louder than mine. I put on the Borla-Mopar catback on shortly after I purchased my Prowler.
CJ	Borla also made a special exhaust for Chrysler specifically for the Prowler that had the Prowler logo etched on the tips and sold through Mopar. They were a bit more throaty than the stock ones, but not so loud that they were annoying.
JeraneW	I have the Chrysler opt that CJ mentions. I love it and I can carry on a conversation inside the car with the top up. It is quite loud when you stomp on it.
StingRay	I too have the original Borla - before the chrome tips and etched cat logo ... mine have carbon fiber tips, and the sound is fine while driving and when revving the engine.
