My Apology did know it was already posted. You are correct good site for many cars. |
JeraneW | No help here! My HHR MUST be programed at a Chevy dealer. |
idive | I wasnt intending to say it was posted before. I thought your link (certainly the topic) looked familiar so I did a search and found several references to how to program them. I thought this site was good cause it had "all" vehicles. I thought it was great you brought it to the forefront. Jerane - I was told my trailblazer needed to be done at the dealer only (by the dealer) but I really doubt that's true. I found a remote in my yard and it looked identical to mine. I have yet to try to program it to my current one. (Dealer says it won't work.) |
JeraneW | idive; Let me know if it works. Dealer wants $50 to re do mine. I have re done mine in my Ford and PT. I think it is a rip off, especially if I have to drive to the nearest Chevy dealership 25 miles away. Maybe I am just "cheap." |

robin | Sometimes its just the rubber push pad. the computer board is ok. Just no contact being made I have a Buick 06. The fobs were not functioning properly. I order some new ones from a site eBay???? when they arrived I just switched the rubber push pad. back to normal. I now notice that there are some sites that just sell the rubber magnetic pad. a lot cheaper than a new one. no programing involved. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Keyless-Entry-Remote-Key-Fob-Shell-Case-Pad-for-15114375-Extra-Battery-/181214919902?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ABuick&hash=item2a 31403cde&vxp=mtrRemote-Key-Fob-Clicker-Rubber-Button-Pad-for-15913421-/360807498697?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5401cd83c9& vxp=mt[/URL] rThis message has been edited by robin on 05-02-2014 at 08:24 AM |
robin | Here is one for the PT cruiser. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHRYSLER-JEEP-DODGE-REMOTE-KEY-KEYLESS-FOB-REPLACEMENT-CASE-SHELL-AND-PAD-COMBO-/180721783696?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3APT+Cruiser& hash=item2a13db9390&vxp=mtr |
Weezy | Thanks for the info. I recently ordered a new fob so that I'll have a back up. Hopefully the free programming works! |
alrtg | When I programmed my new remotes many years ago, I went to the Owners Manual and found the instructions there. My manual is for the 2000 model year and the information is on page 13. It is in the same section as the "Remote Keyless Entry" |
beachcat | I tried that today but couldn't get it to work properly. I could program the new one but at the expense of the old one. Only one would work. Programing one would cancel out the other |
robin | I copied and pasted this from the EBay site.......ATTENTION: You MUST HAVE one working remote to add one more to the system. If you do not have one working remote right now then these instructions will not work. You will have to have a Locksmith or dealership use a computer to program the first remote for you. 1. Using a working keyless remote, unlock the vehicle and disarm the Vehicle Theft/Security System. 2. Insert key into the ignition switch. Turn ignition to the RUN position (as far as you can go without cranking engine). 3. Using the working remote, press and hold the UNLOCK button on the remote for 4 to 10 seconds. 4. Within the specified 4 to 10 seconds, continue pressing the UNLOCK button and then press the PANIC button ( on the programmed remote ) for 1 second and release both buttons. A chime will sound to indicate that the remote programming mode has been entered ( allow 3 seconds for chime to sound ). 5. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously then press and release just the UNLOCK button on the same remote. A chime will sound indicating the remote has been programmed. Press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously and then press the UNLOCK button on each new remote you wish to program at this time. A chime will sound after each additional remote is programmed. 6. Turn the ignition OFF and remove key. 7. Test Remotes.

Roger, You need to have all remotes together and once you have started, you must follow the programming procedure for all of them including the one that you used to begin with. Once the programming begins, you have only 30 seconds to complete programming of all your remotes (not 30 seconds each). Up to four remotes can be programmed to the car but you need to be quick and have no interruptions. I went through the procedure several times before I got all three of mine working at the same time. Yes, programming remotes using the owner's manual instructions does require having at least one working remote. |
beachcat | I only had one new one to program. After trying several times I gave up. I was hearing all the correct chimes but still couldn't get them both to work. I see robin's instructions above have some added procedures that are different from the owners manual. So I will try again using those. |
skb4076 | Robin's instructions worked perfectly. Had to go through the process several times before I completed all the steps properly; but once done exactly as instructed.....bingo!!! I now have 2 working remotes after purchasing one on Ebay for $6.00 and programming BOTH remotes via Robin's instructions! |
