Current Conditions UV Index: 0 Minimal Kevin ------------------ Slightly off topic...I'm a new Prowler owner and was wondering about folks opinions on Prowlers in the rain. I popped the hood and noticed the interesting battery position right behind the front grille (if my limited auto knowledge serves me correct). Has this been a problem for anyone in heavy rains? How about with custom grilles? ed ------------------ ENJOY THE RIDE ------------------ Welcome to the POA! Unfortunately, I've been caught in some heavy downpours (always seems to be at Prowler events!! LOL!), but haven't had any problems. ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! ------------------ UV Index: 0 Minimal Kevin ------------------ It was right around 14 yesterday and took the kat for a ride on what remained of an ice storm we had over the week-end. Went to the shopping center and had a blast in the parking lot just driving and spinning the kat to get the feel of it on ice. A great experience and no cars in the lot to worry about. Even though last weekend hit the low 30s in the desert at night, no major snow there: (yup, you can actually fit a whole boatload of camping gear in that trunk...though she looked a bit out of place encircled by 20 foot long RVs!) edjkburns Here's some current information from weather.com:

David Veu Casovic Around 70 here today waxed the Kat and trailer.Even had some sweat dripping off my forehead. ALLEY CAT David - that wasn't sweat,,,,,,that was Florida humidity! sexlessape Thus far this week has been perfect weather here in santa barbara, and last weekend was even better for camping in joshua tree ed monahan Ed, welcome to the POA. You found the best internet site that exists.
No one has reported a battery problem due to location, to the best of my recollection. There is water inside the battery so it has to be sealed fairly tight.
Ther have been a few reports of corroded positive battery cables. Normally not too big of a deal but on a Prowler it is connected to the main wiring harness and it costs $ 600-900, I don't remember the exact price. I haven't had that problem. There were probably less than 5 reported and that was a few years ago. If you would feel better, disconnect your battery cable and check it for corrosion. Leave it off for about 10 minutes and that will reset your car's computer to the factory specifications for shift points, etc. When you reconnect it, drive it aggressively if you normally drive that way. It remembers your driving habits.
Keep the car stock, mine is (except for the mods) ALLEY CAT Ed the ape - WELCOME TO THE POA WEBSITE I don't think you will have any concern with the battery location and rain. Be sure to email Larry Lord, the So-Cal events director, and get on the email list of his for California Prowler events. You will meet many great Ca. owners and have a great time. Feel free to ask questions and add your input to any DISCUSSION FORUM topic.
