Kat Dreamer	Yesterday I returned home from a long trip and I figured I was getting really low but I didn't want to stop at the gas station and have someone see me until I washed all the bugs off the Prowler! (priorities) I headed off and decided I would pass a nearer station and hit my usual spot closer to home. To my chagrin, the car started bogging down as I approached a major intersection. To the left was a Shell station and as I approached the intersection I got the green arrow as I was crawling forward. The gas station was on a downhill grade and when the car died, I was able to roll right up to the pump! I was a little embarrassed to limp in like that in front of people but in reality I was totally blessed. True story. I've been driving for 36 years and I've run out of gas 4 times. In 3 of the 4 times, I have rolled a stalled car up to the pump. On the one other occasion the car died on an off ramp in a construction zone. A construction worker was standing near me and when I got out he asked me what was wrong and I said I ran out of gas. He reached into his pickup bed and pulled out a can of gas. I swear I have been that lucky. End of the story, I filled the Prowler and it would only take 11.1 gallons. Last night I searched here and read a lot of posts about Prowlers running out of gas before the tank should be empty. I will have to keep a better eye on the miles. I've been lucky but no sense pushing it! ------------------ "Is this Heaven?" "No, its Iowa. The Prowler is Heaven."

I've been lucky but no sense pushing it! They may have a 12 gallon tank, BUT HOW MUCH IS USABLE? With the way the pick up is, angle of vehicle not 100% usable My 1995 Dodge 2500 with cummins diesel has 35 gallon tank, depending on load as to how the tank holds the fuel. The most I have put in it is 31 gallons, trailer loaded getting off ramp going to deadwood, sd. Light came on. Normally when my fuel light comes on, just the truck not loaded it takes 26.5 gallon, with trailer and the rear squatting a little it takes more. I don't trust the fact I have 8.5 gallons let when the light comes on that it is all usable It is best not to run new cars with in tank fuel pumps below 1/4 tank frequently, the fuel helps cool the pump. bjprowler	The "Prowler gods" must have been watching out for you.. Say three "Hail Prowlers", put an extra $20 in the POA kitty as pennance and all will be forgiven....

alrtg	I ran out in my Prowler on my first long distance trip. The car had been driven infrequently during the years prior to my purchasing it. I wanted to see how far I could go on one tank before the low fuel light came on. With 250 miles on the tank I decided not to push it even though the guage indicated 1/4 tank was left so I decided to stop at the first interchange with a gas station. Five miles later the car sputtered and I pulled over to the shoulder. After a couple attempts to re-start I decided I was either out of fuel or something else had gone wrong. I was able to use my GPS to find a number to call and called for a rollback and a can of gas. I did instruct the driver to bring lumber to raise the wheels so the chin would not hit the ramp. Fortunately for me it was out of gas. The low fuel light did eventually come on while I was sitting on the side of the road and has worked properly ever since but I sincerely try to avoid waiting that long to fill up. I went 255 miles on that tank of fuel which isn't bad considering the car has headers and gears. I was running the A.C. while driving at 60 & 70 mph too.
