jpt	Can anyone tell me what is the cause of the gray bumpers getting black stains. Sometime I don't get the chance to drive car for two weeks, and some stains suddenly appear. I use color back to remove them, but I don't know how long I can do that until the paint will start showing my handy work. Thanks.

cstall	Sounds like something oily may have soaked into the plastic. Maybe try washing well with a good de-greaser like Liquid Dawn. I believe the gray bumpers are gray throughout - they're not painted.
idive	The grey bumpers are painted. Never heard of color back. What is it? How's it used? The spots seem to come from liquid on the bumpers. It can be a sweat droplet, a drip of dew off a coke can, brushing your leg against it as you pass by, a bug splat from your last drive, or just moisture in the air. quincy	Mine on my 99 do the same thing. Coat with the 707 product for plastic. Wipe excess off with dry cloth. I must do this at least 4 times a season to make the 'stain' disapear.

Take them off, get Tom Mills kit front and rear if you like, or take them and have them painted to match the car, looks great on the purple cars I had my rear bumpers painted gloss black and they look so much better than the factory gray. ------------------ Larry & Sue Mayes
TLRandall	If you get a drop of sweat or brush your sweaty arm against a gray bumper, it will put a black stain on it if not wiped off right away. The only way to remove it then is to polish it out. Have the problem with both the Purple and the Yellow, and only somewhat with the black bumpers on the Mulholland. I have showed many folks how to get those out with Meguiar's Car Cleaner Wax. My Purple looked horrible when I first bought it, stains and water spots all over the front and rear bumpers. jpt	idive, Color Back is a product manufactured by Turtle Wax and it is an oxydation remover and finish restorer. I have had good luck using this product.
quincy	JPT......a thousand pardons! The product many of us use on plastic, etc. is really "303 Aerospace Protectant" Their motto: "SPF 40 for your stuff". Really sorry about the '707' mistake; best I can do is chalk it up as a 'senior moment'. They also make a protectant for your convertible top; to water proof and protect. catfish	the reason they stain is there no clearcoat to help protect it.the bumpers have mosy likely one coat of paint since its single stage paint.a easy repaint and perfect color match is to use sem wrought iron black,comes in a rattle can,if you want to repaint.if you try and buff the original paint it will get thinner and thinner.i wouldnt use any wax or protectant,reason is if you use it and later decide to repaint you will have more problems than you can inagine.with some good masking you can repaint them on the car. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 08-19-2013 at 07:43 PM
jpt	quincy, Thank you for the new information. I just happen to have a bottle of 303 in my garage. I did go to two different part stores and asked for the 707. They didn't know what I was talking about.
jpt	jan, If you don't use protectant or wax, what do you suggest to use to keep the bumpers pretty? Also, can you tell me what is the meaning of "sem". Thanks

catfish	see padro post.sem is the manufacturer.should be avaiable at your local auto paint suppy store.wrought iron black is the color.my car doesnt have bumpers.with sem you shouldnt have any problems.the fact. paint is only one coat and thin at that.maybe use a non abrasive wax/ polish that doesnt -white up. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 08-19-2013 at 09:24 PM
