Prowler2000My wife and I are new Prowler owners as of Saturday 7/10. The car is a 2000 model with 5200 miles. The oil looks very dark and needs to be changed. It did not come with an owners manual. I was considering using synthetic oil and was wondering if this would be recommended at this time, or continue using regular oil.
ShesOnTheProwlinCTGo ahead! I use mobil 1 in all my cars! Its just easier to remember. There are many good synthetic oils on the market!!

------------------

Black Tie 161Best thing you could do is put Mobil 1 synthetic oil in it.

Walmart sometimes has the 5 qt jugs on sale for as low as $8.88. Not bad considering the dealership charges $15.00 per qt!!!! Usually you can find a 6 qt. case for about 25 bucks on average though, barring any killer sales.

Change it yourself....you don't even need ramps. too easy.

BTW: get the best quality filter you can get. Stay away from Fram. The Mopar filters are Ok and if they are faulty in any way, you are covered. I use K&N Gold oil filters.

Prowler2000Thanks! I have already purchased a Mopar filter. Last night I looked under the drivers side and could easily replace the filter but I was unable to find drain plug... I did not have a light and just felt around. I will get a light and look this afternoon. I'm sure there is a drain plug.
Black Tie 161The drain plug is on the other side of the oil pan....opposite side of the filter side.

ironically for me the plug is easy to see , but the oil filter is virtually invisible under the hood!

DR PROWLERSynthetic and only synthetic is the only way to go.....just way superior!

PARTSMANMobil one is definetly the way to go to preserve your engine. I can sell OE Mopar filters to board members for $4.24 plus shipping. Go with Mopar filters and stay covered with piece of mind. Marc
GRROWLManual says 10w-30. Chrysler says 5W-30 SYNTHETIC is OK.

I use Mobil1 5W-30 exclusively. Some have reported amazing mileage gains from it.

Welcome aboard.

I seem to recall that I paid $6.00 for a spare owner's manual. Also STRONGLY recommend the shop manual, was $90.00.

wallygator310I was in Autozone last week and they had a special for 5 qts. of Mobil One and a Mobil One filter for about $28.

CJWe use the Mobil 1 synthetic in both my cats and have been very happy with it. Congrats on your new Prowler and welcome to POA!!!
ed monahanWally, that deal was only good for the 4th week-end. I saw it and meant to post it here but forgot until it was too late.
