TucsonJerHi everybody, been working on a little project for about a month. It started when my neighbor loaned me a book written by Clive Cussler called Inca Gold. It's a story about searching for the lost gold hidden by the Inca Indians over 400 years ago. The book is fantastic but it sparked my interest in the actual real story of the hidden Inca treasure which is still missing to this day. I wanted to do something to my Inca Gold Prowler that would distinguish it from the other Inca Gold Prowlers in the POA. It seemed like an obvious decision to somehow tie the Inca Gold Prowler to the actual story and here's what I came up with. I guess you could say I found my Inca Gold and it's definitely a treasure to me. Here's the result.

TucsonJerThanks guys for the positive replies. I know when we do things to our cars there will always be yeas and nays but it all boils down to personal preference I guess. I am having a problem though with getting the inserts to adhere to the door. I bought really good 3M double sided bonding tape but it’s not holding around the edges. I cleaned the back of the inserts and the doors with alcohol and let everything dry before applying the tape but the edges won’t stay. I’m afraid to try glue in fear of damaging the door panel. Any suggestions? All the artwork was done by Thom McDonald (not related to Ron). Thom’s been pinstriping cars for a very long time and I heard about him through the Tucson Street Rod Association. I painted the inserts and Thom took care of the rest.
DublinOH3m makes adhesion promoter swabs that significantly improve adhesion of double sided tape. This stuff works!

TucsonJerThanks Steve, I just ordered it and some more tape. Should have it tomorrow . Hopefully that does the trick.

Hey Jer -
I've had pretty good luck with Gorilla double sided tape. The clear one. It's nice and thick and dang sticky. Hope this helps.

Richnew41Awesome Jer!!!!
Hope this finds you well my friend…. The girl is looking good!!!
Best wishes
Rich
WildCatMy door inserts kept coming off

I used the 3M double sided tape but used a lot more than what came with it

Once I added more tape has stayed on, guessing well over 20 years now

TucsonJerI tried the enhancer on the door panels and there was a definite improvement in the adhesion but not quite enough. The smaller end of the panels just wouldn’t hold so I tried another suggestion of using silicon. The problem is now solved. I took her down to a local car show last weekend and was very surprised to bring home a trophy. The Inca Gold concept was well received.
