This message has been edited by hotroddaddy on 07-11-2007 at 10:21 PM It could be that those who have 97's hold on to them because they were the first and perhaps aren't driven as much?? If you look at the stats, you will see that there were a total of: 1997 - Purple - 457 built Obviously, there were more Prowlers built in 1999 than any other year of production and because 99 was an early model, they may be the ones with the most miles on them. Or the owners have (God forbid!), sold them to move on to something else? This message has been edited by onecatnodog on 07-11-2007 at 11:54 PM ------------------ Now that would be fun. And it would give us a chance to put these rumors to rest!! ------------------ This message has been edited by meancat on 07-12-2007 at 04:47 PM mohune-y HOW COME THE MAJORITY OF PROWLERS FOR SALE ARE 1999's? IS THERE SOMETHING GOING ON WITH THIS APPARENT DUMP OR MERELY A CONSTANT COINCIDENCE? hotroddaddy Being that there were no 1998 (titled) models, is it not true that 1999 models actually represent 1998 and 1999 production and therefore represents 2 years? CJ Sort of. The 1997 production year started late and by the time it started, it was well into what would have been the 1998 model year. So, they skipped it. I don't see that there are any more problems with the 99's than any of the other. In 2000, there were a few minor changes, in particular a change in the suspension for a bit better ride. I have a 99 Black and haven't had any problems.
1999 - Purple, Yellow, Black and Red - 3921 built
2000 - Yellow, Black, Red, Silver & Woodward - 2746 built
2001 - Silver, Black Tie, Orange, Mullholland, Black Tie - 3,142 built
2002 - Silver, Inca Gold, Yellow, Candy Red & HVB - 1,436 builtonecatnodog Great read C.J. Thanks for your input on these precious toys... You have Black Tie listed twice on the 2001 list. Was that supposed to be just Black? As 0ne was made in 2001 Chrysler Black? I wouldn't have know this info but I just researched it as a friend Henry is looking at a 1999 Black and hopes to get it soon... onecatnodog BeWare Our 99 Purple has had only a few minor issues such as blown speakers and worn out hood lift shocks. We have over 35K miles on it. Bob Hacker Our '99 has just over 40,000 miles and the only problems we have is the speakers replaced under warranty and hood lift shocks just like Rich & Linda. I prefer the stiffer springs and shocks of the '99s. ed monahan I had over 50,000 on the first one but I did have to replace the transmission sensors on it. I did not have any speaker problems that I could hear but who knows.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another 99 somewhere down the road. The second one only had 3500 miles on it. No problems. meancat I been led to believe there the slowest. I have a 2oo2 and believe it is the fastest. 392HEMI Man, there must be oxygen depravation being experienced in some rural areas of Michigan. Will that be over before Woodward? Maybe we can schedule some time at the old Detroit Dragway and check out these 2002 rumors. lol meancat quote:

I don't think Detroit Dragway at Sibley and Dix is even there anymore, ah for that misspent youth in the late 50's and through the 60's with factory backed racing.
