Tri Jim	Prowler Team, I sent my money and will take delivery of a new '01 Mulholland in a couple weeks. Any one know the history/background on the Mulholland Edition? I know Mulholland Drive is in Hollywood, California, but how does this relate to the blue body paint, top, and pin stripe? Are the Connor Ave, Mulholland, and Woodward the only "special" editions for the Prowler? Just curious.
Todd Cameron	If you'll look in facts and stats on the front page link, you'll find the Woodward had 151 made, and the Black Tie had 163 made. These two were signed and numbered and are considered special editions. The last Prowler, Electric Blue, was a one off factory production, thus it is not an "edition". Why they called your car a Muholland I don't know. I've lived here all my life and have never heard of anything relating to Muholland drive to a dark blue car of any type. ------------------ 2000 Black, 2001 Black Tie, 2001 Orange
Tri Jim	Todd -- Thanks for the help and of course you're correct, the Woodwards, Black Ties and certainly Electric Blue were produced in much smaller quantities than Mulholland. I used the term Edition only because it is shown as the Mulholland Edition Group ($600) on the Window Sticker. The exterior paint color is shown as Midnight Blue. Can anyone else provide background on the roots for Mulholland? Thanks in advance.

JRL	I used to live on Mulholland Drive when I was younger and, except for the Friday night canyon racers and the occasional ensuing wreck, there was nothing "auto" or "blue" related to the street which snakes 25 miles from the Hollywood freeway to the 405 then eventually to Malibu. JRL

Although it is true that our edition is not numbered (like the black tie and woodward), it is still signed by Dr. Ru (on the back of the decklid dead center in middle of the pinstripe). Tri Jim	Wonder if the rich color, rich name may not be correct. It doesn't sound like anyone is aware of a racing / hot rod tradition as I expected. Wasn't there a movie in '01 called Mulholland Drive? -- Although this is probably not the link because the Prowler design decision would have been made a year or two prior. Any other ideas?

Cliffie - Dr. Rau didn't actually sign the Mulhollands. He was paid to, but he sublet that assignment to Ed and I to sign his name. He got $500 per cat, and paid us $50 per cat. Actually, that is where DC made a big mistake. Having Ed and Alley Cat signing our names to the midnight blues, would have made them much more valuable with a larger demand to get them. I'm negotiating right now with DC, to pay me for to pin stripe and sign my name on the new Crossfires.
ed monahan	I was cutting Sandy's grass this evening and a Mulholland drove past slowly. I flagged him down and he pulled in the driveway. He bought it used yesterday and went to the "500" today and had to take a ride when he got home. I told him to check out POA. His name is Bob Ryan and hopefully he will become active. He lives about 3 or 4 blocks from Sandy and said he sees my car in the drive and wanted one. ------------------
Tri Jim	Sorry to post again on a thread that I started. Ed -- Thanks for bringing forward the reference on the General Discussion Board. I was unable to view the DC press releases and could not find the car-truck.com article. Did see an interesting article on a high voltage blue Prowler with hard top that was shown at the Nov '01 SEMA show. I thought last Prowler was only HV Blue. (I know -- concept vs. production) Did want to add another angle to the Mulholland question. I've learned there is a "Southern California Touring Association Dedicated to Sports Car Driving in its Purest Form" called Mulholland Raceway. I wonder if this may be related to the Mulholland moniker. Anyone familiar with this group and any possible links to Blue Prowlers?

I am sure she knows the answer but on the off chance that she doesn't know it, she knows where to find the answer. By Tuesday we should know. I was under the impression it was due to Mulholland Dr. but I do not know if that is true or I was just assuming that all along. ------------------

Punk N Purp	I thought it was obvious why the "Mulholland Edition" name. I guess not. This is my opinion. I thought it was fact, but since no one from Chrysler has said it, maybe not. The hot rod concept represents the rebel image. I, being in California, have never heard of Woodward Avenue, till this Prowler Club. There are two roads that are famous in the USA, to me, Pikes Peak and Mulholland Drive. I remember old movies about teenagers with their hot rods racing up Mulholland Drive to see who was the fastest. It seems like a fantastic road to test a car, it is all up hill and it is a curvy road. I saw a special on TV about a man that went to Germany to have a Porsche specially made for racing up Mulholland Drive. Some cars are made to have a high top speed, and others for cornering. He wanted power to climb and cornering. He paid in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a car to be the fastest up Mulholland. This was all illegal, by the way. I actually have never seen Mulholland Drive. I am sure they have cracked down by now so not as much racing is going on, but the legend still lives. The rebel hot rodder that can win the Mulholland time to the top has got to be the coolest. (Next to the guy that drives an orange or purple Prowler, lol) PS: The Mulholland's connection with blue is nothing. The "Woodward Edition" has nothing to do with black and red. The "Conner Avenue Edition" has nothing to do with H V blue. They wanted to call them "special" names so came up with these names. ------------------
Todd Cameron	They still race rice rocket's up an area of Muholland in the hills in back of Malibu. The "infamous" rock store is there, but this area is taken over on the weekends by a few thousand motorcycles. No room to race cars here at all, today anyhow. Stray Cat	Wohao...... !!!!! Never heard of Woodward ? Seriously ? If your from the midwest and loved any American muscle cars, then Woodward was it. Pontiacs, Plymouths, Fords etc were all tested on Woodward - the Detroit engineers would go out to Woodward to test their machines against the best street rods in the 60's. Hooking up with some of these folks when I was in my 30's (now 42) was so much fun. Listening to stories about the races and testing factory Iron against the "kids" on a Saturday night. What great fun. I was born 20 years too late....... John

catterumpus	You have to be from LA and old enough to know about "Blue" and Mulholland Dr. I got my driver's licence on my 16th birthday in 1957 in Glendale, CA. We were already drag racing on the new, isolated, 2 mile stretch of freeway from Glendale to Pasadena, CA at night when nobody else used it. In those days drag racing was new and took place everywhere the cops were not. "Blue Moon" was a movie you were not old enough to see, and Mulholland Drive was the place you went to do what you couldn't see in the movie. We didn't drag race up around Mulholland Dr. in those days, but the color blue fit with the relationships with cars and what you could do in one when the cops weren't around. C5 Frank	I'm just 34 and I know about the history of Woodward and the former racing on Mulholland. I drive Mulholland every year when I go to Cali. The twisties are fun! Didnt James Dean drive off a cliff on Mulholland?
