catfish | took wheels off today for some cleaning, inspected ceramic pads for wear.after 120.000 on them must say wear is very very minimal, looks like good for another 100.000 miles at least. ------------------

broakie56 | Jan.......may I ask the brand (manufacturer) of the ceramic pads you're using? Sounds great. Something I need to uprade. Also, are you using after-market drilled/dimpled and slotted rotors? If so, any recommendations on the manufacturer as well. Appreciate it. Thanks in advance. catfish | pads were from raybestos.rotors are from rotor pros.i bought rotor pros, cause they are zinc plated and wont show rust.rotors are about 8 yrs old and didnt rust, but also are kinda crappy looking after that amt of time.not sure if thats normal or not.you wnot get any brake dust at all from ceramic frt pads. ------------------

John Cole | how many total miles do you have on your prowler? also will take your advice on the brakes and not replace rears.thanks for your advice in the past. |
George Johnson | Jan, Have you replaced your rear brake pads and if you did what pads did you use? Thanks! |
JeraneW | I changed to ceramic pads six years ago and NO MORE BRAKE DUST. |
catfish | john.123.000 miles on it.george,i would use the factory mopar pads on the rear, because of the composite rotors, other types / brands may cause a problem and i personally wouldnt chance it. ------------------

JeraneW.......did you go ceramics front and rear or front only? Thanks |
spoons | I reccommed Morse or Wagner ceramic brake pads. Both cost less than $40. |
John Cole | catfish it appears c brakes are the way to go on the prowler. what about other cars ie a jeep wrangler. i have to change mine soon. |

I put ceramics on our Durango. I can't comment on the longevity because they have only been on since last October. But no more black dirty wheels to deal with.![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/thumb.gif) ![](http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/smilies/thumb.gif) This message has been edited by BeWare on 03-09-2010 at 08:37 AM |

JeraneW | I am sure I will get some disagreement here, but when I pull up to stop lights, stop signs, or just slow down, I downshift and hardly have to use my brakes. I know some will say it is hard on the transmission or sensors, but I enjoy the "throb" and my brakes show almost no wear. Never had trouble with brake dust on rear pads. "Do Love The Sound." |
catfish | you wont have trouble with brake dust on thr rrs or wear since the frts do about 80 percent of the braking.my rrs have 123.000 on them and still are the originals ,they are close to needing replacement, but not quite yet. ------------------

broakie56 | Not only did you guys convince me in going with new ceramic brake pads......I ordered a new set of Brembo drilled and slotted rotors also. Not only do you get great information here on the POA site, it also has a way at decreasing my savings account! As my wife always says to me while shaking her head....."unbelievable, where's it end"? I reply back to her...."if I excited you the way the Prowler does me, you would then understand". ------------------
