This past Friday after cruisin the coast, I dropped off my brother at his friend's house. When he got out and shut the door, it made a loud bang noise and the door would not shut. I got out and check what was going on. And wouldn't you know, the pin on the upper hinges was missing and the door wouldn't shut correctly unless we lifted up about 1-1 1/2 inches. Did the pin break in half??? How long has it been missing? I couldn't figure it out because the pin was nowhere to be found. It was bout 4:30pm and I have decided to stop by the dealer.
Well, of course, my car was out of warranty due to the custom paint. Jaime Garcia, the service gentleman, told me that they didn't have it in stock and has to be order. The bad news was not the cost, but I need to get a complete set of the hinge. I only need the pin. I had no choice but to ordered it.
Jaime told me the cost was about $145.00 plus. He was nice enough to offer me at dealer's cost, $84.00. That helped.

The next morning I called a friend who has a small body shop and asked if he can check out my door. No problem, and he said to bring it over. This time I got really lucky. He found the pin. I was located in the gap between the door and the sidewall. I jumped up and down like a kid!!! I swear, both my brother and I and Jaime, at the dealer, couldn't find it the day before. I took my friend to removed the door and put back the pin (bolt like). It was designed insert the pin upside down. This time, my friend decided to installed the horse shoe clips at the top of the pins, both doors, to hold it if it decides to fall out again.. I immediately ran over the dealership to stop the order of the hinges.

If you guys have the time, I suggest that you install the horseshoe like clips on top of the pins. I am sure that you have never had this problem before but it only cost less than 0.50 cents.

I am glad it has a happly ending...

What does custom paint have to do with your problem that they would not warranty it? Sounds like a bull@#%$ to me.

------------------

Custom Two-Tone paint and pin stripping, Sassy side panels, Carlini chrome front end, Tom Mills turn signal kit, TGF grill, chrome engine parts, G-force gears, Mopar/Borla exhaust, custom interior, Kenwood TV,DVD,10 disc CD player, Air patrol.

The only warranty on your car that is voided by the custom paint, is the paint. The warranty on the rest of the car that is stock, is still in effect. Same if you put an aftermarket part on the car, for example an alternator. The engine would still be under warranty, but the alternator would not be. Or if you put an aftermarket fender on a car,it voids the warranty on the fender, not the rest of the car. I have rebuilt and repainted many a car and motorcycle, and if there is still a factory warranty left on the vehicle, it is still in effect as long as the oem parts were used//// Good Luck
