The highs will be between 68 and 72 every day next week. Scattered, isolated T-storms on Tue & Wed and rain is 60 % on Thursday. Overall it looks good. They are predicting rain for a week from today. What's chances that will be correct. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 10-01-2009 at 12:42 AM |

Wow, things change fast in Pigeon Forge. These two extended forecasts are from weatherchannel.com, taken ONE DAY APART. The first 5-day forecast (on Wed 9/30) shows great weather all week. The second 5-day forecast (on Thur 10/1) shows a rainy mess of a week. Hope it changes again by the time we get there.....

Living just an hour from there and up on the Plateau, not in as diverse an area as Gatlinburg, we have learned not to worry about the weather until we are outside and getting wet. We have had the weatherman talking about terrible rain and it is blue sky at our house. Now I don't doubt that I will never be able to brag that my Cat has never been wet again after this trip but it won't shrink. I for one am really excited about this upcoming week as it is our first Prowler event. See you all there. Oh, by the way. You may want to look at back roads to get there as the main highway coming South from I-40 to Gatlinburg usually is bumper to bumper. JMO. Tennesse Cat aka Bad Cat |

Just to follow up on Tennessee Cat's comment about the road into Sevierville and Pigeon Forge...When you are leaving to head back home or whatever, when heading out to the interstate, when you come into Severville from Pigeon Forge, there will be 3 lanes that will bypass around some of Severville business...be positively sure you take these lanes out...there is one lane to the left that will also take you back to the interstate...absolutely do not take this lane out...made that mistake a couple of weeks ago and got hung up for 47 minutes, just to go maybe a 1/2 mile, which eventually meets back up with the three lanes I mentioned earlier....I've found out from others they had made the same mistake...Trust me, I live here... |

If you are coming in from the North or from the West, I would HIGHLY recommend that you come in thru Alcoa and Marysville and into Townsend. From the North DO NOT TAKE THE BY-PASS, go straight until you can see the golden dome in downtown Knoxville. Turn right on I-40 and take the Alcoa exit which is either the first or second exit. It is a very nice, scenic drive. In Townsend, the highway makes a Left turn and comes down into Pigeon Forge about 2 or 3 blocks from the hotel. You need to turn left on the main street in Pigeon Forge. It might be the next light, in fact. Left again. There is a Cracker Barrel on the far right corner and a National Park hotel on the near right corner. Nice easy drive with very little traffic plus it is much more scenic. You will not go thru Sieverville. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 10-01-2009 at 09:53 PM |
