The “Prowler Store” in Florida is copying the light kit that Tom Mills designed and has offered Prowler owners since 1998. The pictures that are shown on their site to illustrate the parts being offered are actually Tom Mills provided parts. Others have offered turn signal panels that fill the holes left from removing the bumpers. That is not the issue. The issue is directly copying of another persons design without their permission. Candidly, this really upsets me when a friend to our Prowler community gets knocked off. Tom has done nothing but support this site and Prowler owners for years. “The Prowler Store” has no problem using the same name of the POA on-line store that was created before they started business. This adds to owner confusion. The POA store has fielded a number of complaints over the years from people that purchased from “The Prowler Store” looking for relief. The people running the POA store have had to explain that they were not connected in any way with “The Prowler Store”.

You can support whatever seller that you choose but I felt it important that you know what “The Prowler Store” is doing to our loyal and supportive friend.

Let the bashing begin but I stand by my friend and count on his high quality parts; light kits, splash guards, window regulators, rear roll pans, trailer hitches and I forget all.

Just for the record this same outfit bought my Hitch off ebay last fall. Just to copy it. Complained to ebay it was scratched so they made me take it back. I paid shipping and they kept my hitch for 3-weeks. No scratches I could find on the hitch.?? I figured out who this was in the middle of it. But ebay stood by them. Big customer for ebay.!!! I hope no one buys hitches or anything else from these thieves.!!! My 2-cents. I feel better now.!!!

Besides copying everything, their prices are ridiculously high. Some of the products don't measure up at all, i.e. the grill they sell.
Unfortunately folks don't realize it is a separate entity all together from the POA and they support them.

catfish, if it will make you sleep better obiwon most likely copied your design. that wasn't his biggest fault. it was that he took people's money and didn't deliver the product as promised for extended periods of time. the fact is that obiwon is dead, realrod is gone but the subject of this post is very much alive and active. people that are having an experience with this on-line retailer are sharing their experiences and feelings. this may help other owners avoid the pain.

I stand by my support for all of the fellow owners that work hard to provide quality, innovative products for our Prowlers. Please keep sharing your experiences.

I can't get a close up of it to compare. The "click here for more pictures" doesn't work. They do look very similar from a distance. But at $849 painted, who would buy theirs? Tom's are $595 for a proven perfect product.

Bite my tongue but is it possible they are an authorized re-seller of Tom's product?

No,I have nothing to do with them. They did ask me if they could sell my products some time ago and I didn't want to participate in their program. I couldn't see any advantage for you or I in that arrangement. They are not an authorized seller of any of my products.

Could be I guess. It just seems too blatant. They would have to know they were going to make enemies copying that. I think they already know they are being flagged by us.

Bad business decision or is there another explanation?

Maybe Tom will chime in.

whoops he beat me to it.

I guess they are risking a boycott then.

I agree that guy at "The Prowler Store " is a crook, back 4 or 5 years ago, I suggested maybe he could make some chrome discs, that slide over the lugs to cover the rotor hat , yes by chance he did make them like 2 weeks later, not even a thanks for the idea, or discount when I purchased them. That was my last transaction with him.

With the prices he charges for some of his chinzy junk, then copying things from others, he's a low down dirty crook, that don't care if what he's doing is blatant or not.

He only cares about getting your money, how he does, don't matter to him. NO CLASS !

I believe my Prowler Alley Cat Chrome Grill Treatment System was their first Prowler product offered for sale?

For $10 to $14 worth of automotive, chrome, door edge molding,,,,,they would pre-cut to vane length for self installation on the OEM Prowler grill, and charge the customer $99.00 for that particular mod

My first thought,,,,who in the hell would spend $99 for that small amount of molding, instead of buying a full roll of molding and cutting it themselves... Apparently there were enough owners with no common sense who bought their product, and they expanded into everything else mentioned on the POA website that owners are having trouble finding, or items that interest them into buying.

Face the fact,,,there are many Prowler owners who are not aware of the POA, and buy products from some businesses not knowing any better.... Its our job to speak with Prowler owners we come in contact with, and mention the advantage of being a POA member and to support our loyal Prowler product vendors.

The boycott is on. All new Prowler owners need to be made aware of this unprofessional practice.

Long ago, didn't Mike take issue with them using a name similar to our store and go after him to change the name? I may well be wrong and maybe Mike will chime in, if he wants to share the details, but I was thinking that they eventually came to a mutual agreement that allowed them to keep the name. If Tom can, I sincerely hope he goes after them.

I have my own DBA. One time when I was out of work and looking, I ran across an ad for a job at a company with my DBA. I got an interview and was actually offered the position, which I rejected, and while I was there, asked him about the name. He told me he tried to get the DBA himself, but it was already taken. He decided to use it anyway. Then I told him it was my DBA. I could have gone after the guy but I let it go.

Very unfortunate indeed! Tom's products flow from his God given talent for creativity and ingenuity. I agree with the boycott. Can a permanent banner be placed on our site where it would always be noticed by the group? On a side note, "Imitation is the highest form of flattery". (again, that does not make it right)

Yeah, I've heard that before. People who "copy" do it because they can't come up with any of their own ideas.
