John, I know several of our SoCal members plan on attending. We had a GREAT time in 08. I think the Royal Gorge should be a must again. How about a drive up to Pikes Peak. After putting on the Las Vegas Event last year I know what a challenge it is to pull off. If I can help in any way, let me know. |

John, Unfortunately the first Colorado event was before my time on this site. But the Royal Gorge picture looked great and would love to see it in person. And also the Castle that you have posted pictures of would be wonderful. Of course, just the great country scenery looks fantastic, with the mountains and the lakes. So if you are looking for ideas, any combination of those would be a winner to most of us. |

Larry, think the Prowlers can tackle that road as well as the Jeeps did? Might be tough, our cars are a tad wider ... we wouldn't the "plenty of room on the right. To the right", ya know. |

With John leading the way,,,,the Prowlers could do it.. Turning around could be a problem,,,,along with signing that trip, liability release form, lol. |

Larry we can set up just about anything you want to do as jeeps can be rented out here but I would suggest that you clean it up Big Time before you bring it back... Just a thought... I have narrowed it down to two hotels that are in the final running here in Colorado for our event.. The Hyatt in the Denver Tech Center location and the Antlers in the Colo. Springs area.. Do to the cost of our rooms out here, and Colo. being able to have a great economy and with some of the new laws that make it legal to do things here and not in other places has filled all the hotels and house renting that's around.. Houses don't last more than a week here right now on the market and people are getting more than they are asking... I was hoping to get 100 guest here to Colorado in 2015 but the room rate that I'm getting will keep away some so I will be happy with 40 or so... With Tax and all the other fees the room is coming in at 149.00 per night out the door.. Sorry guys if that to expensive... onecatnodog |

There was a couple of requirements that I had.. 1) was Covered Parking, 2) was on property security, 3) was that it was close to the Hi-Way so easy to get to and from, 4) was to handle over 100 rooms, 5) was in a safe location, 6) was some place that the cars could be washed on location, 7) was that it needed places close by the hotel to eat and entertainment.. So that takes a lot of places off the list.. onecatnodog |

Personally I think $149.00 for a decent place to stay is OK. I know most of our SoCal members want something nicer then a Motel 6. |

If that becomes the rate for the base hotel,,,we'll just have to cut our stay in half. I understand Colorado's great economy right now,,,,,selling weed is a big boost, but I think that 'group rate' is a bit too high just to lay my head down for six hours,,,especially if we lose a day or two due to inclement weather. jmo But,,,we'll go with the flow... |

You guys are seriously making me re-think about having a National Prowler event as it is true that we already had one in 2008, and things like fuel and lodging are more expencive here in Colorado since then.. I'm only into about 3 months of planing so it's no biggie at this time if I decided to cancel out as I have not signed any contracts yey but have plans to do so in the next few weeks.. If I were going to have it and fuel in Colo. for Premium is close to $4.00 a gallon, Safe Hotels in good areas with tax out the door is $149.00 a night, and places that I want to take you to see all cost money, and there is a cost of eating here for a week.. Just how many would show.. I would like to see a list of interested people here and how many days would you stay and input on what you think... Please help and respond to this topic... Thanks onecatnodog |

I'm OK with $149.00 +/- a little for a good hotel. I've paid a lot more when on vacation. $4.00 a gallon for gas is a bargain for SoCal folks. Since the event is in 2015 it should give most folks enough time to budget/plan for a great Prowler gathering. |

John, I plan on coming and I know of at least 2 other Houston area owners that are planning likewise. Is it cheap to do so, no. But what is? $149 per night hotel room for all the requirements you wanted is not out of reason, particularly for the area. And I would rather pay a little extra with the knowledge I will not have to worry about my car the whole time. And yes, there's cost for meals, excursions, etc. For most prowler owners, the prowler is not their sole means of transportation. They have two, three, or more vehicles. They are not on poverty's door step. If an extra $200-$250 for a nice place to stay for a week in Colorado is make or break, maybe they should rethink taking a vacation. And as Vince says, it's a year away. There is time to plan and budget. Eliminate one night out for dinner a month for 4 or 5 months and that's the $200 to $250. Colorado offers a very unique experience and I know many of us would not miss it for the world. I would like to thank you for undertaking such a HUGE job. I have nothing but admiration and respect for anyone like you, the Southern California group, Marty, Ed, etc for investing all the time and effort required to get one done. Personally, I can't wait! Put me on the list! And if I can help in any way, please let me know. This message has been edited by dru on 06-06-2014 at 10:28 PM |

I think the prices are outrageous and I feel bad that Sandy will have to work overtime to pay for my trip. I also think I can make it up by stealing MORE center caps than I had planned. lol You have to do what you can John. You can't control everything. Some folks won't feel like they want to come. A successful event is where folks who attended had fun and I have had a great time at small events with 10 or 15 Prowlers. It is easier to manage a smaller number and easier to stay together. The final number of cars doesn't define if the event was a success, in any way, in my opinion. If you enjoyed the scenery, meeting some new folks and having a re-union with the pioneers, then it should be considered an excellent adventure. Our road trip to Vegas was as much fun as I have ever had on a Prowler event. It was just a great time with great folks and very relaxing even though we had one car overheat and that was stressful for that owner. Other than that it was just absolutely excellent and it was only 5 or 6 vehicles. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 06-06-2014 at 10:39 PM |

I have just retired and Colorado is at the top of my list next year. Assuming it is a large event I saw something about parking so many cars in small parking lots. My thought would be to break the large group up into two separate groups for those places where it is too tight for so many cars then regroup later in the day. |

I believe that covered parking is the challenge locally, but maybe we could keep an extra Prowler in my garage . There are a lot of cool places to go in Colorado that would be free, too. I simply never heard about the Bridge event back in 2008. I still think we should do that again in any case. This message has been edited by drbutton on 06-08-2014 at 11:18 PM |

After the fire that destroyed most of the attractions at The Royal Gorge Bridge, will reopen toward the middle to end of August this summer. By the summer 2016 everything should be finished and running, with some new attractions. The new resturant that will overlook the gorge will be open by then. There are plenty of things to do in the local area, Segways,Horse back ridding,Zip Lines, rafting, ect. The NSRA has a big event going on that week in Pueblo,Co, as well as Gambling up at Cripple Creek for those interested. Lots of higways to cruse with great scenery. Gas prices as of today are running 3.31 a gallon reg 3.52 premium. |

John, I know of several SoCal Prowler members that planned on attending if the event goes on. Room rates and Gas prices, should not be an issue. |
