Hello everyone,
I really need you and your skills.
Indeed, on my 2001 Prowler, I just saw that my ball joints on the front axle are split, both the top and the bottom ones.
When I see the price of the ball joints, I have some for about 500 €, without the shipping costs, I live in France ..... Which is pretty much, half more ..
So, a question comes to me: is it possible to only change the seal .... But now, I can't find the references of these damn seals .....
Counting on your good will
Sincerely from France

I presume you mean the rubber covers are split, not the ball joints themselves.
If you need to get ball joints, let me know. I have an extra set and we can lie about how much they are worth so you don't have to pay as much on the import tax.

I think the term Ed, is ‘adjust’…..!
Mecadoc, you simply cannot go wrong when this man offers help, it would be foolish not to say yes.

Reality is you need to do 2/3rds of the work just to change the boots (seals) so you might as well change the joints if they are the OEM units. Easy way to tell if they are the aftermarket units, look to see if they have a hole in the stud for a cotter pin or a castle nut and cotter pin.

P.S. Any easy way to get around the "duties" is to mark it a a warranty replacement for a defective item.

Thanks for the compliment Dave. The reality is that I have received a lot more from other owners than I have dealt out. I don't want to start naming names for fear I will forget someone BUT just today, Steve Clark dropped of a set of 4 rims that he brought back from Fla, 1000 miles away. I didn't ask him to do it, he volunteered to pick them up and drop them off on his way home. That is just one example. Most Prowler owners are very helpful and giving.
We were treated like royalty when we went to the European event about 4 or 5 years ago, in Switzerland. If I can help someone over there, I certainly will.

Above Translated:
Hello friends,
First of all, thank you for your answers ...

For Ed: indeed it is the joints and not the ball joints which are split (luckily, moreover ...) if you have 2 upper and two lower I am taker.
To behave ?

For Dave: by reading your answer, I can only answer YES to Ed .... Thank you for your answer which consolidates me in my idea that I made myself on the members of the forum.

For Mocar, it is true that your answer is very judicious ... I will look at it the next WE, with this epidemic my days are busy ....

For Adacus: I'm sending you my details by email tonight ... Now I'm off to work ...

Again a big thank you to all

Long story, hang in there.
I can't find my lowers but I definitely have some and will locate them.
Looked online. JEGS said the Uppers RP13874A would ship directly to me from RARE PARTS on Dec. 8th. I was afraid we would be gone before they got here so I didn't order them. I can order them later in Fla.
So I called Rare Parts 800 621 2005. Neither are in stock but the guy told me they will be added to the list tomorrow. He thanked me for bringing the problem to his attention. He appologized for them being out of stock, twice.
Lower is RP13768A
Mecadoc let me know if you cannot get them shipped directly to you or if you want me to order them for you and have them shipped to me in Fla and then I can ship them to you in France. I don't have the current price, of course. You can look at the Rare Parrs website to see the price in a few weeks. I won't mark them up. You will pay whatever they cost plus the shipping. Sorry it isn't working more quickly but it looks like there is hope on the horizon.
Also, let me know if you want the lowers right away. I will find them and ship them but if you are going to wait and do them all at the same time, there is no need for two shipments.

Hello Ed,
I wouldn't want to abuse your kindness, but I think the easiest way is to send me all 4 at the same time. I'm not a few weeks away ... here the weather is starting to deteriorate with its share of ice and unsafe roads ... the machine stays warm in its garage.
Once you have them, you can contact me to see how we are organized.
Best regards

Jeff, I tried ordering from them as soon as we got back from West Virginia but never got any response or any ball joints from them. I was lucky to find Rare Parts lowers on ebay.

I believe Jim Sutton knows the replacement part if someone just wanted to replace the boot, but if I were going to all the effort to do that I would just replace with a new joint and have peace of mind.

Oh, if all else fails the Prowler Store apparently sells both upper and lower joints, and ships to Europe.

I admit to being surprised by the price reduction from $ 225 to $ 88 ...... That appeals to me ....
It is true that we find some at "Prowler Store", but with what I read on the forum, I have some reservations ..
Being on the other side of the Atlantic, new to the forum and not knowing all the suppliers, that's why I turn to your benevolence

Avoid the Prowler Store at all costs.

They do not PRODUCE anything, just steal other peoples' ideas and designs and double or triple the price and sell them to the unsuspecting. If something goes wrong, it is usually YOUR fault, not theirs.
I spoke to one of the the big shots at Rare Parts yesterday. After I told him I was the guinea pig for the new ball joints he knew who I was. He said he would get the ball rolling and that they would probably be available in approx. a month. He thanked me for bringing it to his attention and appologized for not having them in stock. I feel 100% sure we will be in good shape around the first of the year. Stand by and we will get er done.

I would wait until Rare Parts evening was delivered.
As for your last message, don't worry, I have the same one at home ....

OK no problem.
What a month in a lifetime .....
I saw the Rare Parts website, I think I would also take SWAY BAR LINK Kit.

Is it a good idea ? Maybe not to assemble it right away but keep it just in case ....

Ed, you mention the lower ball joint part number as RP13768A. When you talked to Rare Parts did they say anything about a new more improved version, hence the part number with an "A" at the end? I see the part number listed elsewhere as RP13768. FCRC Machine lists the Rare Parts # as RP13768

There has always been an A after the number. You can do a search and look at threads from a couple of years ago.

They don't have the PR on the number either. The date on that package is from 2019.

I see that we are progressing well.
Only the superiors are missing.
Whether the ball joints come from Wicka2323 or Rare Parts, it doesn't matter to me, as long as they are operational ...

As I said earlier, I'm not in too much of a hurry.
I think we have to do the best to annoy as many people as possible
