Even if you don't have all the information or paperwork, insurance experts are advising Californians to file a claim now to get the process started. Following is a tip sheet from the Insurance Information Institute, an industry trade group on what you need to know to if your house is damaged by fire. Capture video or photos of the fires? i-CAUGHT http://ugv.abcnews.go.com If my house burns down, will my insurance company pay to have it rebuilt? What about the contents of my house? What information is needed to report a claim? Who will pay for temporary housing? Should I file a police report? What about receipts? What other documents should I compile? What is a deductible? How do I figure out what I've lost? Much of my furniture and possessions were badly damaged -- can I get rid of them if I have a home inventory? My home was vandalized after the fire and my new television was stolen. Am I covered? Should I make temporary repairs to my house? Does my insurance pay for the loss of any trees, shrubs or other plants I lost in the fire? If my car is destroyed or damaged from the fire, is it covered? If I have questions about my homeowner's policy, where can I get help?
FEMA recommends including the following items in your own disaster supplies kit in the event of an emergency: Water: One gallon per person, per day, for three to seven days. This message has been edited by idive on 10-25-2007 at 07:55 AM |

The fire in Santiago Canyon is about 20 miles from us here in Orange County, With all the aircraft that has been loaned to us by the U S Goverment, They are finally able to fight the fires, They have caught one person starting fires this morning, and have a good lead on another suspect. Most of the fires here have been set by arsonist. Very sick minds! The wind has finally died down as of this morning, We had winds gusts clocked in Anaheim Hills at 108 MPH Sunday, This happens every year at this time, when the Santa Ana Wind come, As if the fire wasn't enough, It was 99 degrees here, The winds bring the dry air and heat, Was 92 at the beaches. |

I haven't seen a word on the news about arsonist. I wonder why that is not making the news. Those guys ought to be tried by a jury of 12 folks who lost their homes and all their memories, pets and other valuables. |

They are saying here, that 11 of of the 13 fires here were set intentionally. Every year, from October thru January, we occasionally get Devil Winds or ( Santa Ana Conditions ) where the wind come off the desert and blows towards the coast, and every year they arrest several IDIOTS that like to start fires. Several people who have been caught, were Fireman candidates who failed in the academy, and take their revenge by doing this. They fail to realize how many people are hurt or killed, or lose all their personal property. Many million dollar vacation homes have now been lost up in Big Bear area.
