Does any body know the size of the entrance and exit pipes on the stock catalytic converters? 2.25", 2.5", 3"? I am in the planning stages of replacing the cats with bullet mufflers and need to know what size to go with. Thanks.

Bill - I think they are 2.25 in and out but could be 2.5" from the exhaust manifold and 2.25 out. Mine are laying in the garage at home. I will measure them when I get home this evening.

Thanks Marty. I talked to a friend last night and he offerred to work on this for me. The mufflers are only about $30 each, so this isn't going to be real expensive.

Wild Thing, I want to replace the cats with free flowing mufflers to get the benefit of the freer flow with less, possibly a lot less, addtional volume than if I replaced it with straight pipes. Bullet mufflers are just small round mufflers with ceramic packing to withstand the higher temperatures coming right out of the manifold.

Bill - I hope you have ability to do audio when you finish - or just drive up to Kentucky when you are done. Without the cats the sound is REALLY loud when you nail the pedal. With new purple hornie glasspacks it sounds good most of the time and even the drone at highway speeds is tolerable, but sometimes when you need to get on it in traffic, I just wish it had less volume. Your mufflers might be just the thing.

Bill - sometimes timing is strange. My exhaust guy just called to follow up on how I liked the exhaust without the cats so I asked him about size. He said the colloected from the header is 2.5 and then we have a small section of piep that is 2.5 to 2.25. The cats were 2.25 in & out and system stays 2.25 the rest of the way back. He kept it htt way because that uis what the stock system was to begin with plus he was afraid if we went any larger especially without cats, we would lose back pressure and low end torque.

I will measure tonight and let you know if it is different.
