Hi Guys:

Jus wondering if there could be a potential problem if I leave the top down for months on end? Of course, I know the top should be totally dry when down and stowed.

Thanks.

Roger

Using the tie downs seems most important, mine came with a pair of wear marks on the passenger side, apparently due to the previous owner not using them.

It might be a good idea to exercise it now and then if you get a chance.

Pumpkins top has been up maybe two times and that was for exercise since we had her.

Hmmm.. It is strapped down but maybe I should make sure that the straps are pulled as tight as possible?

Where do the wear marks show. I have 49000 miles on my 01 and have never strapped it down once. I haven't noticed any wear marks. Haven't noticed any on the 99 either, but it only has 17000 miles.

Doesn't stand out quite as much as in this photo since using the 303 convertible top kit on it, but still an eyesore.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the top material was being pinched by the top bows when folded up. The solution is to pull out gently on the folds on the folded top in the down position. That gets the top out of the "pinch zone". Do this before you strap the top down with the tie down straps.

Is there some kind of product that can be sprayed on the wear marks to bring them back to the original color?

If you really want to protect your top simply cut a soft blanket top material to the pattern of your top. Then place the blanket on top and carefully fold top back into trunk. It works and I've always done this with convertible tops. Helps w/rattling too.

We have fabric paint in our detailing supplies. Comes in black and grey. It might be hard to match the color though and you might make it worse. It would take some experimenting.

If you want more info, use the search feature and just put "fabric top care" or something similar.
