Hello exhaust my 99 Prowler has a annoying and to loud sound. I want to have him quieter and dull with a sound like a small V8.
Are there alternative mufflers from Dynomax, Flowmaster or others, has someone tried to give the Prowler a better and quiet sound?

Has your exhaust been modified? They really are not very loud stock. But many aftermarket mufflers cause them to be too loud.

Are the baffles still in the tips? If removed they will make it louder.

Very few replacement mufflers out there and most if not all are to make them louder.

It is a V6 so no matter what you do it will NEVER sound like a V8. The best sounding Prowler I have ever heard had a set of corvette side pipe mufflers in place of the stock muffler ( not the side pipes but the inserts in same location as the stock muffler) DONT remember who's car it was on. Been many years ago.

The stock muffler is a triangle shaped muffler. Unless you are the original owner might check to see if it is stock. Many stock mufflers out there if you want a used one.

I have kept my complete stock exhaust system because I didn't want it any louder than it was. I do have a set of the Mopar (Borla) exhaust tips that came with a different muffler. Dave Ridge wanted the muffler but not the tips, I wanted the tips and not the muffler. So he bought the system and I bought the tips from him. Someday I will get around to installing them........LOL

Mopar rumble, 300 hp slant six - YouTube

I put these same mufflers, flow Master 44's, on my slant 6 Dart. Great sound. The engine is a modified 225 3.7L, bored, dual exhaust manifold, cam, milled heads, holley 750, ect. makes about 300 hp.
I don't know if the prowler could be modified to fit these mufflers on it or not. they are about 3x9w x 19L.

How did your Prowler get loud? Prowlers are quiet unless you tinker with the exhaust. Put you Prowler on a rack and find out which part has been changed. I'm sure you can trade a Borla exhaust for a stock exhaust. Maybe you'll get lucky.

The former owner of my Kat changed the mufflers installing twin CHERRY BOMB mufflers. They are about 36 inches long. They have a great sound, a nice rumble when the convertible top is down. Sounds almost like a V8. But too noisy if the top is up.

Here is a picture of the exhaust tips with the baffles removed. Notice there is nothing inside the exhaust tip and you can clearly see it is completely open to the exhaust pipes. I could not locate a good picture with the baffles installed. If you exhaust tips look lime these the baffles have been removed

Thank you to you all for your help! It`s not easy in Germany to get parts for the Prowler. I think the exhaust is the original from 1999, the baffles ar still into the tips.
But during slow driving all rattles under the Prowler and
by driving on the highway he has a terrible loud noise.
Today i will go to my service station to look under the Prowler and to check whow much room there is for an new muffler.
Maybee a Dynomax 17552, Magnaflow 11378 or a Flowmaster 524704. It needs some work and changes, but i want a quiet Prowler. It is the Prowler for Brian Lerose (Pantera) from this forum ..

Hi Guenter,
Where are you in Germany? I'm going on Wednesday to the Nurburgring for a WEC race. Are you near there? I'm in the UK and have owned my Prowler for nine years.
By the way do you have the hardtop lifting thing in the car?

Yesterday i was by my garage on the hydraulic ramp to have a look under my Prowler. There is no room for a new muffler with
dual inlet/outlet. But it seems that my stock triangle muffler is blank inside, no absorption material inside and it sounds like a tin can when i knock on it. At the end is a sheet in the muffler, so i can`t look through and at the front and the end are discolouration in the tin from the heat.
Has anyone from the Prowler drivers open the original muffler
an have a picture from inside? how is your muffler? Is the sounds as empty as my ? Sorry about my english and my questions, but itīs not easy with a Prowler in germany.....
