Guess no one has done this or they would have posted to your starter topic. What would be the advantage of air suspension anyway--To slam it for shows? Are you talking about the suspension that the low-riders use? The ride is already marginal with the stock tires and the air suspension would just make it worse, plus the added baggage of the accessories needed might make the idea non-practical--not that this is a practical car in the first place! ------------------ |

I was thinking of sending an e-mail to AirRide suspensions to inquire. This is all the rage for 55-57 Chevys, mucsle cars, etc. right now. I would love to be able to put the nose right on the turf when parked. |

Why would you even consider doing that to a classic car like the "PROWLER"?? Nancy |

Different rims, custom paint, bumper removal, headlight removal, interior mods, engine upgrades. It's called "hot rodding". |

It might be a good on the front when you pull up to curbs. Scrapped the dodo out of mine the other night. I hate it when I do that. |

I though about this a few months back for the same reason. It would be cool to dangle the nose when parked. I decided that although airbags are the latest fad, a better way to go would be to replace the front coil-over shocks with conventional air shocks of the correct size. The addition of a solenoid operated air valve and a small compressor would let you run it up and down from the drivers seat. The handling would be affected quite a bit, perhaps for the worse. The main reason is that a conventional metal spring has a somewhat linear resistance over the travel of the suspension, assuming the coils are wound uniformly. An air suspension gives increasingly more resistance as you compress the shock or airbag. This message has been edited by lavka on 11-19-2003 at 10:49 PM |

Like Kurtis said, it's called "Hot Rodding". To each his own. ------------------ |
