One of our group members suggested a trip to the southern AZ mountains so we’re off to Mt Lemmon on Sunday November 4.
Mt. Lemmon is a great place to see fall colors this time of year and the twisty road up the mountain is always a fun drive. This will also give us a chance to catch up with some of our southern AZ friends.
The Phoenix group will meet at the Fulton Ranch Towne Center, near Lowe’s and Jack in the Box, at 8:00 AM - we'll hit the road about 8:15. Fulton Ranch Towne Center is at the southwest corner of Arizona Ave and Ocotillo in Chandler – turn in at the first stoplight south of Ocotillo. From the north and west valley, take either I10 or the 101 to the southern-most 202 (the Santan Freeway) and head east to Arizona Ave. From there, Ocotillo is about 2 ˝ miles south.
We'll take the scenic route down AZ 87 through Florence to Tucson - much better than the straight, boring I10 route. At Florence, we'll take AZ 79 to AZ 77/Oracle to Ina/Skyline/Sunrise to Kolb.
We'll meet the Tucson group around 10:00 at the shopping center at the SW corner of Sunrise and Kolb. There's an El Charro there.
From there, we'll take Kolb south to Tanque Verde and on to Catalina Highway and then up the mountain!. There are a couple restaurants on Mt Lemmon for lunch and a ski lift if anyone wants to take a ride to the very top of the mountain.
If you plan to go, email Curt at cstall@cox.net so we know who to expect.
