Thanks to all the efforts of Greg and Vetta, even though Vetta didn't feel up to the trip, Wally Gator and Norm and Sue Udell and everyone involved in in the planning, we had a blast making the run to the Keys. It is always fun to see familiar faces and to make new friends on events like the Keys. We got started Wednesday with a day around Punta Gorda and a cruise on and around Charlotte Harbor thanks to Captain Norm and Sue.
We enjoyed dinner on the harbor and a beautiful sunset.

Thursday in Ft Myers included a visit to the Edison/Ford winter estates. Highly recommended! Lunch on Ft Myers beach then a cruise to Homestead for the night. Friday we headed south to Marathon, in the Keys, and a couple of cool stops. We really enjoyed the Dolphin resource center. The staff and dolphins put on a great show. We also visited the turtle hospital. They save and rehab sick or injured sea turtles and release the healthy ones and house for life turtles that wouldn't survive. Quite a place. Dinner was at a beautiful restaurant on Colony Key. Saturday was a great day for a cruise to Key West. A bunch of Prowlers on the run around the island strikes a mighty fine pose....and the crowd went wild. Key West was a blast especially with Greg organizing a private trolley tour for us. The perfect way to see and learn about Key West. Lunch, shopping, snooping and sippin took the afternoon and everyone gathered in Mallory Square for the street entertainment and sunset from the southern most scrap of sand in the country.

I am sure others will add comments. Here are some pics from the Run to Key West.

Ed, we will have some more pics soon. Karen got a very nice bunch of very good pics.

Sorry you and Sandy couldn't make it. You missed an excellent event. There can't be a better gang of folks to spend a weekend in the Keys with.

Karen has put together a folder of pictures from "The Keys" event to share with everyone who made the trip. If you gave us your email address you will be getting an email that will let you view a "Dropbox" folder. There you can view all of the pictures and copy and save any that you like. They are all native resolution so quality is excellent. I don't think you have to join anything but if you do, it is free and a great way to share files with others. If you join, I get addtional storage and that is good. If you don't get an invite or are not sure I have your email, send a PM with it so I can add it to the list. She included a ton of great photos

I want to say thank you to all the people that came down to the Keys. Got to meet a lot of new people as well as connect with old friends.

Thanks to Ed Hall for suggesting we do this trip again.

Thanks to Norm and Sue for putting together activities in SW Florida prior to our meeting in Homestead. Wish I had not been working so I could have joined in.

Thank you to Bill Gill that got us special access into the Turtle Hospital and put together the fine dinner at the Key Colony Inn.

Sorry about the weather on Friday. We will be sure to do better next trip! There has already been a discussion about our next Florida outing.

And thanks so much for all the folks that came from out of state. Glad to see you and we hope you enjoyed yourself.

See you all again at another Prowler event.

Thanks Greg for all the hard work this time with little input from me because of the late entrance from oblivion!

Ww are planning at least 2 more long weekend outings this year for FL Kat Packers and anyone that would like to join in.

The first may be the first week of May or the last week of April (not sure as to the timing) and a West FL cruise starting somewhere in Central FL and ending in Naples or there about. That one is being planned for the first or second week in Nov. I have another ides that I will bring forth at the next cruise.

Thanks to our resident photographer Karen, great Photos! We're waiting on Wanda with hopefully some video to go along with the photos. Thanks Wanda.

Enjoyed meeting those I haven't had the opportunity to meet before. Fantastic group of Kat people. Stay well and stay tuned for more!!!

Wally

I think this should be a monthly event. We can make it this month or next month. A month late and a dollar short again.

We are back after spending nearly 3 weeks on the road cruising Florida. I wouldn't know where to start by "thanking" all the people we met at the Keys event. We had a wonderful time.

To all you newbees out there who are afraid to drive your "old Prowler" let me explain something. I drove 3,547 miles through some ice, heavy rains, sunshine, over a 7 mile bridge, through the Everglades "ally" and the car performed flawlessly.

We did not take the trailer on this event but rather packed the car very carefully. My wife (Carole) used a "d" ring on the back of the headrest and we hung our clothes behind the seats.

There is no excuse not to enjoy the car the way it was made. Not only were we happy to drive it...we made a lot of other people happy by seeing it.

Can't wait for the next Prowler event and meeting and seeing new and old Prowler friends. Thanks to all!

I received a PM asking for a picture of the d-ring on the back rest. I hope you can make it out. Some Velcro, d-ring and you have 2 places to hang your clothes. It worked out really well.

Well said Bruce and well done! I could not agree more.

It was fun cruising with you guys, even if we did not have our Prowler.

Dear Reluctantly Prowlerless,

There is only one reason you did not have your Prowler in the Keys. Maybe next time you can leave him home? LOL
