You know......I thought about that at one time, but I was afraid that someone would try to rip it off the hood, so I decided it wasn't worth risking...... |

I also thought about the Jag ornament, but I did not want to ruin the hood which is very expensive to replace. And once you have drilled holes to mount it you are stuck with it if you don't like it. |

And NEXT. AC will be selling "mountain oysters", home grown, since he has removed the horns from his head to put on the nose of his cat. Dan G. |

Never have been a big fan of hood ornaments. The wife has had a number of Mercedes and for a while there, the hood one was getting pulled off 4-5 times a year by kids wanting to wear them around their necks. Hey, I'd have wringed their little necks free of charge. |

quote: & Go through me Us silver Kats stick together... Twitch - As far as a hood ornament, I thought about it for a while, in fact I took many photos of classic autos at any car show or museum I attended... There are many that would look pretty nice & match the lines & feel of the Kat... They were tough to find & when I did... Price was a little crazy for something I had to put much work into. I also agree with CJ... Someone might decide to try to walk off with it... Instead I opted to add to the stock ornament with a graphic treatment. Besides... I often find people staring inches away from the stock hood badge just to figure out what brand of auto was sitting there in front of them...

growl, that is correct. It is double sided tape, heat and peel, just don't overdo the heat part. |

Ed, is it the same procedure to shave off the Meangene or Fixumm ornaments - or do you really "shave" them off |

quote: Growl - The adhesive is very sticky... I had purchased two extra hood badges, which I used on a project for the Kat... The adhesive used on the backs stuck strong & in an instant... You only get one shot... I don't have any experience with the removal from a car, but I know someone I can ask... I feel Ed is right (He usually is )... Do it with heat, but VERY slowly... Be patient... I would rather waste a couple hours on a day off, then have to repaint the Kat... I would advise talking to someone who has done this on the Kat (I would think somebody will post soon. If not, try searching the archives)... I am sure a reputable auto body shop would have an idea as well, but usually when someone shaves a car, they have it already it planned out to paint the car with a whole new paint scheme anyway... I think the adhesive used is a 3M product, but again check with someone (maybe from DC) who would know without guessing... Hope this helped out I will try to do a little research as well...
