|Big Easy Mopar Cruise to Middendorf's in Manchac, LA|
|On Sunday, Oct. 19th I lead the Northshore group from Mandeville to Manchac for our lunch at Middendorf's. We had three Prowlers join the nine or so members from the northshore. We traveled Hwy. 22 (one of Louisiana's Scenic Byways) onto Hwy. 51/55 to Manchac. The weather was perfect and we ended up with 25 or so Mopars at the restaurant. We pulled in off the exit just after the Southshore group was parking... Good timing... I had gone to Midnight Madness at NPR on Saturday night and I stayed at my Dad's place after leaving the track (10:00 pm to 3:00 am for the younger set - It's street racing on the drag strip). I was the oldest person there and left after making a couple of runs around 10:30 pm. There were around 100 cars when I left. However, on the way out I crossed two groups of 20 to 30 lil import cars on the way to the track.
On Sunday morning, my Dad & I returned to Mandeville in my truck and trailer. We unloaded the Red Prowler and headed for the Northshore rendezvous point. He rode with me in the Red Prowler and Karen had the Yellow. It was a lil cool (70 degrees) and I asked if he wanted top up. He said no - let's go top down... So, we did although I did have to run the heater.... My Dad is still recuperating from two months in the hospital with a 3X bypass, than a pacemaker, a bout with pneumonia and few other complications... He is now doing great and just wants to drive his lil green truck around... He's 82 & ½ years young... He really enjoyed the Sunday cruise. My sister Gwen met us at Middendorfs' and took him home from there...
Sunday turned out great. Nice to mix some of the classic Mopars along with the new....|
