Today was the day. I don't have any pics, but my passenger joint popped today. Was pulling into a restaurant parking lot when mine popped. Damaged wheel and cracked fender. Parts are on order. Mine is currently being fixed under extended warranty. NOT from recall. They are replacing my wheel and fender as "resultant damage". I feel lucky that I was going so slow AND in a parking lot when mine occurred. I am worried that other Kat owners may not be so lucky. If you read this and can park your Kat, please do so. I AM NOT attempting to make anyone paranoid, just afraid of someone truly being hurt or killed by this. Had this happened on the highway, I may not be posting this.
P.S. My service rep said when he spoke with DC, this had happened to at least 10 Kats so far.

JP , Your right. I had seen that there on your mod list before. I think thats about where some others had their problems. Thank God your OK. It's been snowing since I got my Kat and I can't get past the 250 mile mark. I probably shouldn't wait and just go when I get the recall.

Beware,
The only warning I can give is that the steering got tight and didn't want to go to center by itself. Also, 5 days ago, noticed squealing noise coming from the suspension.

Something I would like to add. If you are under the impression that you can check for corrosion and tell if you are ok, DON'T! 24 hours prior to mine popping, my Prowler tech. said he saw NO SIGN of any problems. He even drove it.

JP: Glad to hear that you are okay!! That could have been a very bad accident! Man - to think you and I were out on the highway doing 75 side by side running back and forth just a couple of weeks ago! I'm so glad you were just pulling into a parking lot when that happened! Take care and hope to see you soon! Tami

P.S. Ken wanted me to say something else about it popping, but I won't even go there!!

Maybe we should add a "Symptoms" category somewhere on the site so that others know what to look for!

JP - sorry to hear about it, especially since I now have 55,000 miles on mine. Of course I "baby" mine when I drive it and don't abuse it in anyway.

I am glad DC is fixing your's and hope the recall happens soon. My dealer just checked mine last week, so I guess that doesn't give me any piece of mind.

Hope you are back on the road Prowling soon.

Marty

Believe me, due to the high mileage on my kat it has been on my mind ever since the post that the recall was going to happen. I keep having thoughts of driving the car back from Wisconsin with the new engine and running up beside your Hi-Boy on I-65 in Indy when the ball joint breaks. Does that give you a pleasant feeeling?

AS things are planned now, I'll be zooming through Indy on April 3rd!

Glad you are OK. Find some way to guilt them into a new rear rotor.

I would like to see the mileage/year of the 10 failures that your service rep spoke of.

JP - Sorry to hear about the ball joint, but glad to hear you are OK and little damage to your Kat.

What little time I'll be driving mine over the next few weeks, I'm certainly not gonna have my kids riding along.

Hey JP,

Very scarry stuff... I'm at 21K miles and the thought does cross my mind.

Someone in your family is keeping you in their prayers!! Insurance covers your loved ones when we die but prayer keeps us alive while we live.

Good thing to have..

Thank GOD you survived what could have been something very tragic for you and probably to those around you.

Later..

Glad you are okay. I am going to go pick up my ex-wife right now for her first Prowler ride. I may not be back for a month or so.
