Hi everyone, I have had my Orange Kat since Dec 1st and driven it approx 300 miles. I have a few concerns and don't know if I should pursue. Let me know if my message is too long.1. The steering is very stiff compared to anything I have ever driven and sometimes the steering wheel does not return after taking a slow turn. 2. After sitting for a week, the engine makes a helluva noise for about 3 to 4 seconds. Like it has no oil and the lifters are dry. It was serviced the day I got it with 10-30 oil. It appears by the dip-stick to have been overfilled by half a quart or more. At idle the oil pressure is below center and about 3/4 under power. No help from dealer. 3. Can't get the gas guage beyond 3/4 no matter how I fill it. I have not run it down to empty as I don't know if that end of guage is accurate. I'm just letting you know I too have this problem along with some of you. I have more concerns but this appers too long already.

poco there have been discussions about the front end getting stiff just before ball joint failure. Better get a ride in another Cat to compare what you're feeling or get the car to service to check. There have been lots of discussions on the gas tank, fuel gauge and lifter noise. Use the search feature to find them.

Butchee covered it all.You can find so much about this using the search function on past discussions... Look into the stiff steering IMMEDIATELY!!! That could be a serious safety issue for you.

Thanks guys - search feature works great - from now on I will use it before I post.Although, still no acceptable reason or fix for the lifter noise. Some folks still have it even after applying the suggested fixes. It seems everyone agrees that the noise is harmless and this I don't understand. Why wouldn't "no oil on lifters at start up" cause prmature wear???? I will get the stiff steering checked as soon as I can get it back to the dealer. Could be a while since I live in Seattle and rainless days are rare this time of year.

you might find yourself trying a few dealers to find one that's competant> many of us have to drive an hour or more to a good one, even here in LA. Our motor's are OHC, they do not have lifters. However, one of us had a severe noise and then later his bearings ( I think it was the cam bearing) went out and DC had to buy him a new motor. I would suggest the tech pull yours down to see. Also, look into the Lemon Law in your state. Here, The dealer has one month to fix "it" or several trys ( I forget how many exactly now) or the Law makes "them" buy you a new car.------------------ 2000 Black, 2001 Black Tie, 2001 Orange, 2001 Silver, 2001 Muholland

I use full synthetic motor oil. My car just sat for two weeks without being started. No lifter noise at start up. Not sure if the Syn makes a difference or not .
