After TSW, Daphne and I headed our on way on Saturday. I noticed my steering getting a little difficult as we drove the hill country.I noticed in turning that I would have to steer it out of a turn. I would even have to over steer then back to get it heading strait. I thought maybe I was imagining things but sure that I wasn't. I took it to the dealer and haven't gotten any answers back. The only thing I've gotten from them is a half a tank less than it had when I took it in. I'll be addressing that tomorrow! They did tell me that the rack may have speed control steering? Is this true? They were getting on line with tech to ask them questions but haven't yet. Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone give me suggestions to help them out. Its my understanding that our cars are made up of parts from several other models. Does anyone know what other model the rack on our cars is used on? please help, its very discouraging when you take it to the dealer and they don't know..........Don

Sounds like something may be rubbing on the steering arm, to keep it from easy flow. But I'm sure they checked that, or did they?. Is it at a Chrysler shop? good luck.------------------

Don, there are three pages of diagnosis in the manual covering steering problems. They list low oil level in the resevoir, tight or underlubricated ball joints, replacement or repair of a piece called a steering gear, underinflated tires, steering column flex joints, loose PS belt, low PS pump pressure, etc etc etc. Following the manual guidelines, they should be able to fix it. Not many people at the dealership have much "seat time',so what you feel may not be apparent to them. I hope you have found a good dealership to do your repairs.Thats one of the drawbacks of having a limited production car-Good luck!------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST

Thanks JD and butchee, I looked at all the same items the both of you mentioned with exception of belt tension. I will do that this morning. They too, (according to them) have given it a complete look over. Having built several cars over the years, I had much rather do any work/adjusting myself rather than visit the dealer. The dealer I am using is Crown Dodge/Ply/Jeep/Eagle..........they are claiming 5 star certification.......Don

Don, went & check with my local tech. He said in addition to the above, it could be a stuck pressure valve in the PS assembly...------------------

since my job is building/ repairing R/P gears and some having VAPS (veriable assist power steering). Ours does not have it, and if it did, all this does is bypass pressure to make it more manual than power steering. It should handle the same at speed. The whole Idea is to give you more feel of the road. What you describe is poor return, this is usually from internal leak or restriction giving reduced flow. A loose belt can also give you this feeling but would think you would hear that. Good luck on getting it fixed, remember to fill your tank each time so the tech can have more seat time TESTING you Cat
