On the way home from the opening day Parade in Cincinnati my disc changer quit. It kept telling me "no Disc". I called the dealer this morning and they had an opening. As soon as I got there I asked them about the ball joint recall. It was in the computer. The recall number is C03. Luckily they had one set of lower ball joints in stock. They didn't have all the special tools to do the job but we managed to "jury rig" what we needed and the job took about two hours.
Any of you that plan to take your Prowler to Kingswood for the recall should call and have them order the parts. The Prowler tech, (Jim), is ready for you being that I was the learning experience. Incidently, the disc changer can't be fixed and a new one is on order.
Good luck to all of you!

My disk changer had to be changed out too.
It did not work straight from the dealer.

I took my Kat in today to have the front shocks replaced due to them leaking fluid. While I was there I asked about the Ball Joint Recall. They had not heard about the recall but took the recall number I had and was going to check into it. Later that day I received a call from the dealership and they found the information on the recall and located the replacement ball joint. I will pick the Kat up tomorrow!
The shock that were leaking were Dynamic Suspension brand and they replaced them with the same brand. Also, the service bulletin did not call for an alignment after installing the new ball joints.

That's great Lee. Did you wait and watch Jim do the work? I'd like to do that myself if they don't mind. I'll be calling him soon.

Where are you going, Ed? Erne is the Prowler tech at Wullenweber, are you going there? Are you going to watch it being done?

Andy, I am dropping it off at 5:30 this evening so they can do it in the morning but I decided not to stay over. lol. I don't do mornings if I can help it so, no, I am not watching it. It is their first attempt. They only had one set of ball joints in stock.
I was near there on the way to the golf course yesterday and decided to stop in to see if they had any. Got lucky. I can try it out at the track Saturday.

Has anyone determined if the Replacement will cause damage to the Chrome A Arms? Thanks

KatAddict,
After watching and helping replace them, I would say if they take the proper precautions, there shouldn't be any damage to the chrome. Of course I don't know your mechanic! lol

At 2:30 I stopped and they told me that may not have it ready. But at 5 PM they called and said it was ready. It does seem to steer easier but it may be wishful thinking. They said there were no signs of corrosion on mine at 28,125 miles.

Ed - your kat felt a little loose at 100 in third gear going into turn 1 earlier today!

I was glad to know you had the ball joints replaced before you let me tool around the track!

To quote Andy: "Wait a minute, you let the guy who blew up his car at the track drive YOUR car at this track? You must be cute because you sure aren't very smart!"
I still cannot believe how loud my car is.
The track safety workers sure had a fun day. They got more laps in than I did.

Ed I followed you to the track when we got there the guy in the Viper behind me asked "what type of exhaust do I have on my Prowler?" told him it was stock and the roar he was hearing was the Prowler in front of me, your car!

Ed - your exhaust reminds me of the words a policeman giving me a ticket when I was in high school wrote after he crossed out "loud mufflers" - he printed - "WHAT MUFFLERS"

Your straight pipes are only loud when the engine is running!

Marty, I am thinking about disconnecting 3 of the spark plug wires to cut down on the noise. Which ones should I pull? I like it so that is the only vote that counts. Charley in the Lambo told me how good it sounds at least 5 times so I might count his vote also. lol.
I was shocked at how loud it is as you guys went around the track. That is the first time I ever heard it at full blast.
