I had my joints replaced today and took some pictures for all to see what is involved. Booker at Northgate Chrysler Jeep did a great job. I would recommed him if anyone else in the Cincy area still needs theirs done. Check out the pix at my website: |

Andy, The ball joint tool that Booker is using to remove the old ball joint kinda explains why the fenders need to be reomved, that's also the tool he used to install the new ones also isn't it? Thanks for the pics. Al |

I'm ill after seeing that! I hate to see them take my Kat apart like that. I don't think I'll watch! But I know it's better than the alternative! ------------------ |

quote: You should picture my kat sitting in Wisconsin without the engine in it. I guess after that, the ball joints won't bother me. |

Nice picture sequence. I'm told that my new joints will be available by next Wednesday. I plan to have the center caps and fenders removed before taking it to the dealer for the job. |

Removing the fenders is not a big issue, just 4 bolts. My tech was very careful with them and gently set them on towels on the ground to keep them safe. He also set the calipers and steering knuckles aside with towels to protect them and the A-arms. I did remove my own center caps before I went just to be safe. He did use the same big C-clamp to press in the joints too. |

Andy, I tried to get the Dealership to allow me to take pictures and the Service manager would not butch. He was afraid he might loose his job if Chrysler found out. From what he tells me this is not allowed and this is coming from Chrysler. I knew it was all bull.. I had my ball joints done this morning and was very depressed they did not allow me to take pics and detail everything. Here is all I was able to muster..

Sorry they wouldn't let you take some pictures. I was afraid they would not let me even watch. I prepared myself that if they wouldn't let me watch I would go elsewhere. |

Hey cmblockhus... love the idea of doing it in public. You seem pretty knowledgeable on this... It seems lots of us are unfortunately finding damage done from this recall, some being told it is unavoidable. Can you address this please? Maybe dpena can document some of the precautions that should be taken to prevent damaged arms and knuckles (not yours, OURS!). And, maybe address any alignment issues too. Thanks!
