Had my ball joint recall done yesterday. While talking with the Tech and service manager at the dealership they mentioned that they get a lot of good information from this site. They said they got all the information from DC on how to do the recall, but it didn't tell them all they needed to know. They found out a lot of their info right here. They did a perfect job. No problems. Thanks folks.

That's rare...Most service mangaers compare sites like this to fan-boy sites that overreact and usually supply bad info. I still constantly surprise my service dept with knowledge gathered from this site. (he thought the recall was just another rumor until he got the official word.)

Consider yourself lucky....

You ARE lucky... My dealer refers to this site as a place where unrelyable crackpots spout off a bunch of crap. Sure, not everyone on here is as knowledgeable as others, but thats where the information sharing steps in. We have techs, DC reps, mechanics, and dealers as members of this site. Maybe if more dealers referred to this site, they would see it, and us, differently.

Well ....I had my Ball joints done yesterday. Had talked with the service manager on several occassions concerning the proper tools! He assured me(after I gave him the part #) that they had it. When I dropped off the Kat I gave him all the info. I downloaded concerning the recall with specs....Pic of tool with part # ect.....
I picked up my Kat later in the day. I then had the opportunity to talk with the Prowler Tech. that did the work. I asked him how the "Tool" worked? He said what tool?
To make a long story short.....He did it his way...and it worked! No damage to my Kat.....I feel very lucky!!Gulp!

Made an appt with my Dealer in NJ one of the largest DC dealers in the stae and they called me back to tell me they have not done 1 recall job yet because they are still waaiting for the special tool kit with which to do the job. Said on Thursday this week that it would be at least another month before that are able to do the job. POOR PLANNING by DC if you ask me. We are on the East coast and don't have that much of a season to use the Prowler they should be more concerned for the owners out there!!!!

BKG,

My dealer told me that the special tool is the same as one of there older transmission tools. Have him check it out.
