I had the ball joint recall done about 3 weeks ago. I took my first long road trip this weekend and noticed that the steering seemed tighter than it used to. Also, the wheel didn;t want to return to center without help. Anyone else notice this?

Sounds like they put the old joints back in. The symptoms you described are the same as others have mentioned just before the joint gave out.

Curt - something doesn't sound right about your description. Take it back in,,,and stay with it personally this time until it's meets your acceptable limits. JMO

PS - They wanted to tow us away yesterday. Spent an hour looking for Karen and you to move your cat from that lot. Sweet talked the security guy from making the call to the tow company. close

They most likely tightened your upper ball joint to 95 lbs versus the 65 lbs. I too feel my steering a little tight on left turns.

I have not had time to go back to the dealership to have them inspect it.

Have them check the torque specs and make sure they did it right.

Go to my site and review the Dealer Service Instructions.

Later...

Dan...Thanks...I'll chat with the service mgr about that torque spec.

Larry...about getting (almost) towed from BankOne in Prescott...I found the NastyGram on my windshield. The Security Dude said you put him up to it...

Curt - NO,,,,they were serious about it! I had to slip the security guard a twenty to keep him from calling the tow truck on you. You can pay me back later.

You planning another Devil's Highway trip did I read somewhere?

Did Earnhart's do your recall work? Keep us posted.

Curt,
Hope you have your ball joints fixed soon.
I don't want to hear any excuses about why you did not set the trip up. I do hope they have a few watering holes on that cruise, a little fire water will sure keep the kat cool.

Yes, the work was done at Earnhardt's. I called them back today and asked about the torque spec on the upper ball joint. Alan, the service writer (and MadMax's buddy) is looking into it. Id like to test drive someone else's car though - kind of a side by side comparison. Just wanna make sure I'm not being hyper-sensitive. Maybe Friday night at the Gilbert show.
