Finally got the ball joint recall done! Crown Chrysler in Greensboro, NC did an excellent job. I would recommend them to anyone in central NC.I gave the Prowler/Viper tech (David Evans) the detailed info that Laddie Roussel posted on 4/22/03. David said that helped a lot. Thanks Laddie! I also gave him the recall error notice of the torque spec dated 5/22/03. Thanks to Ed, AC, Marty, Laddie and all of you who helped with info. Sorry if I was a pain to you guys, but this safety issue really concerned me with driving my best friend (son) and Princess (daughter) around in my kat. ------------------

Ed - what about me? The Alley Cat goes in today for the recall work. I, not being concerned about the safety issue, choose to wait until all my long road trips were finished before taking it in for the work. It came down to two dealerships that wouldn't destroy the cat, and one said they would let me stay with my car though the entire time to watch the job being done,,,,,,,,,as long as I don't get under the tech's feet I'll post here tonite how it went.

AC -I thought yours was already done at the museum? Isn't that a perk for being the Curator? Seriously; good luck with the work. ------------------

Monahan - As the former Az events coordinator,,,I was a leader for more miles on events than your cat has total on the odometer! Recall done. They started one hour late on it, but the tech was super nice in letting me sit in and supervise the work being performed. First thing he asked if I was particular about my car. I said yes,,VERY. All went fine and he even showed me each step he was doing. Done in less than an hour on the recall. Then he asked me about re-torqueing my rear lug nuts,,,,said sure. I jumped right into help him and POP,,,a wheel stud snapped in half with me on the end of the breaking bar Now we wait 55 more minutes for new stud to arrive from the Dodge dealer 10 miles away who had one. We spent the down time chatting about Prowlers and Vipers,,,,,took the tech another 20 minutes to replace the stud, mount rear wheels, and torque it all out. Cost to me --- $7 Dealership: Earnharts C-Jeep in Tempe, Az Tech: Dave great job Wouldn't accept a tip! BTW - the tech gave me all the original parts back to me from the recall and said all those parts looked like new with no foreseen problems. 27,000 hard driven miles and the parts looked new? Must be the Alley Cat's accomplished driving style This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 08-19-2003 at 08:01 PM

OK Ed, I'll give you one. Following GPS John for 32,000 miles will not qualify you as a leader,,,,,,,,,unless you pick up his food tab along the way, lol.
